- Municipal Gardens - Also known as Dona Amélia Garden in honour of the former queen of Portugal, the Funchal Municipal Garden is conveniently located in the city centre, north of Avenida Arriaga, on the site where the São Francisco Convent once existed. The convent’s coat of arms has survived until today and is displayed on one of the lawns. The garden overflows with flora from Madeira and many other parts of the world. It covers an area of 8,300 m² and has a lake and stream populated with fish and birds. There are also some works of art and an auditorium that serves as a venue for cultural activities.

Excellent - Expected to be part of a much larger group but ended up as a one to one tour. Nevertheless, Erica was a great host and I thoroughly enjoyed her company and the tour. All in all, excellent.

Great for getting to know Funchal! - We had a great guide, she gave us a lot of tips where regarding local food and drinks. Also, we learned a lot about Funchal's history and its people, I would recommend!

Old Town Walking Tour - Our history teller (a young male German student) was very knowledgeable about the history of Funchal. Event is tagged as accessible. There are steps in several places. I would suggest putting a few short breaks into the tour to rehydrate. Also maybe find out if people are allergic to fish before going to the fish market. I luckily brought a mask to wear.

Tour was okay - Did not learn as much history as I expected on the tour. Few interesting bits here and there but they need more content in the tour. Experience may vary greatly depending on your guide.
