Highlights
  • CR7 Cristiano Ronaldo Museum - Main pick-up point. Alternatively, any hotel or apartment in Funchal Downtown. For pick-ups outside the primary location at the CR7 museum, please inform us in advance.

  • Sao Sebastiao Viewpoint (mirador) - We head west of the Island, using paths carved through the mountains from Campanário. Here, we can observe the work of our ancestors in creating one of the UNESCO-nominated world heritage sites, the famous terraces of Madeira Island. These ancient constructions involve building stone walls of volcanic origin to expand the cultivation area on the island’s slopes. After viewing these structures, we will briefly stop at the São Sebastião belvedere, situated 170 meters above sea level, offering an ideal vantage point to see the only valley on Madeira Island that cuts through it from north to south.

  • Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools - From Santa, we head to the beautiful natural pools of volcanic origin. Photo stop. Access to the beach complex is not included.

  • Miradouro da Santinha - Off-road trip from Santa to Porto Moniz, where you can observe the fauna and flora of Madeira Island’s northern coast.

  • Levada Ribeira de Janela - We leave our vehicle and start our walk to explore the stunning landscapes of the Levada da Ribeira da Janela.

  • Santa - Porto Moniz - Lunch stop at Santa - Porto Moniz (food and drinks not included). It’s recommended to bring a snack, or we can assist in booking a place to eat.

  • Paúl da Serra - We walk across the Paul da Serra plateau, a significant water reservoir crucial for our agriculture, where we can see the unique vegetation responsible for capturing the area’s typical humidity and rainfall.

  • Prazeres - We continue our tour with a descent to Prazeres, a typical village on Madeira Island where agriculture is combined with the famous cattle huts. Here, we will stop to enjoy the renowned regional Poncha (drinks not included).

  • Calheta Beach - Passing through the village of Calheta, home to one of the oldest sugar cane honey mills in the region.

  • Cascata dos Anjos - We take the old regional road to observe the hand-dug tunnels of Madeira Island, opened with explosives. From the panoramic roof of our UMM, we can see the uncoated Basalt dome. Between the tunnels, we can also see the old Royal Road nº23. We then stop at the famous Cascata dos Anjos, known on social media for its spectacular photos.

  • Miradouro do Cabo Girão - Our tour continues east to the famous glass Skywalk on Europe’s highest promontory at Cabo Girão, situated 589 meters high, offering views of the famous “fajãs” and the west of Funchal.

  • CR7 Cristiano Ronaldo Museum - Return to the pick-up location.

Additional Information

If you are looking to discover the North and South of Madeira Island while walking, this is the best recommendation for you.

Visiting the famous natural pools of Porto Moniz, crossing the old paths and tunnels of the North Coast, and stopping for a typical lunch, will turn this day into an eternal memory.

The walk takes us to the interior of the Ribeira da Janela valley, coming back to the south while passing through Paul da Serra at 1500 meters above sea level.

On the south we visit Calheta and Ponta de Sol and a magnificent waterfall that falls directly on the road, stopping to taste the famous and typical Poncha (rum, lemon, orange, and honey), and completing the tour at Cabo Girão Skywalk, with a magnificent view over the Atlantic Ocean and the cities to the south while suspended on a glass platform at 580 meters of altitude.

Beautiful - Excellent place to unwind, be alone with your thoughts and just totally relax. Ribeira da Janela became one of my favourite places on the whole island - it’s a village, with just a couple of shops and tavernas, but it’s absolutely beautiful and the nature/views/surrounding forest and Levada walks are something the words simply can’t describe.

Levada tour - Is undoubtedly the best levada on the north coast of madeira island. At first it was cloudy but the weather improved and it became a wonderful day. Thanks a lot for a 5 star day

Very nice tour. - Levada walk is always a good option, and better if you mix a classic Portuguese offroad car its even better. The vehicle is open top and fresh. Even in a hot day it’s really nice. The levada is perfect do discover the essences of the levada walks in Madeira, everything is green and fresh, we went on a easy 1 hour walk and found some tunnel and waterfalls. There is many bird and the fresh air is amazing.

Amazing. - The path is always fresh, and the landscapes are breathtaking, the tunnels are scary at first, but after getting used to it, the guide borrowed from the lanterns, it's amazing how the levadas of Madeira were built. This tour was the most memorable memory of our entire trip, we enjoyed it so much that we booked a tour for another day, which was awesome too.
