Highlights
  • Mercado dos Lavradores - The Mercado dos Lavradores, which occupies a prominent place in the centre of Funchal, can be defined as a living museum where the freshness, vivacity and tropicality of the archipelago’s flavours take centre stage. Inaugurated in 1949 in the centre of Funchal, the Mercado dos Lavradores is the supply point of the city. Find here the most famous fresh and tropical products of Madeira’s archipelago.

  • Cristo Rei (Jesus Statue) - Located at Ponta do Garajau, the Cristo Rei Viewpoint offers a unique perspective over this Natural Reserve. It owes its name to the majestic statue built on this site in 1927. The Cristo Rei Viewpoint owes its name to the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus built on this spot. It is an imposing sculpture of Jesus Christ, with open arms, facing the ocean.

  • Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Monte - Originally from the 19th century, Monte Sledges are one of Madeira’s ex-libris. Experience this unique adventure, with all the adrenaline and emotion you are entitled to. The route taken by the Monte Sledges is two kilometres long, and takes about 10 minutes to complete, starting in the parish of Monte, towards Funchal, and finishing in Livramento. Besides the adrenaline and excitement, this trip offers a panoramic view over the capital of Madeira, with the ocean in the background.

  • Miradouro Pico Dos Barcelos - The large valley that serves as a natural amphitheatre for Funchal, on one side, and the calm sea that bathes the south coast of Madeira, on the other: this is what you can see from the Pico dos Barcelos Viewpoint. This observatory is at an altitude of 355 metres and is ideally positioned for visitors to enjoy peaceful views of Funchal’s urban landscape, particularly its bay.

  • Miradouro Eira do Serrado - At an altitude of 1095 metres, the Eira do Serrado viewpoint offers an unobstructed view of the parish of Curral das Freiras, surrounded by the grandeur of Madeira’s characteristic green mountains.

  • Cabo Girao - The Cabo Girão viewpoint, with its famous suspended glass platform - called skywalk - is currently one of the most visited tourist attractions of the archipelago. 580 metres high, Cabo Girão is the highest promontory in Europe.

  • Camara De Lobos - The municipality of Câmara de Lobos is home to a critical historical legacy. In addition to its monuments and stunning Atlantic landscapes, the municipality stands out for its centuries-old fishing tradition. This is were Winston Churchill painted his landscapes.

Perfect private tour. - All stops were excellent. The fishing village was a nice surprise. And the skywalk was amazing. A perfect 3 hour trip to see several different parts of Madeira and fantastic views. Our guide Diogo was great. Informative, very gracious, and very friendly. Highly recommended for those who don’t want to get tied up all day with a big tour group. It was a private tour. Just two of us. And worked out great.

Sightseeing Personal Tour Madeira - Excellent local knowledge. Spoke English very well and was happy to take us off the normal tourist routes so we got to see the real Madeira island that the locals see. Definitely recommend contacting Diogo.

Brilliant tour!! Very friendly. - A great daytrip, Diogo took us to a local restaurant and poncha bar. We saw much more of Madeira that we otherwise would have done as our cruise ship only docked for the day. Great English, excellent communication, steady and safe driving. Chris & Laura
