Great experience! - We booked this tour as a family of 5, three teens and two adults. It was wonderful! Devi was very knowledgeable about the area and the food provided. The food stops were extremely memorable, we had amazing culinary experiences, whilst learning all about the various traditional dishes of Sri Lanka. The kids loved the hopper making experience, which was made even more special, as they were also given the opportunity to assist with ‘hopper making’, such fun! A stop at one of the local jewelry shops provided a fascinating insight into the history of gemstones in the country, which is such a huge part of Galle. This tour should be a ‘must do’ activity for anyone visiting Galle, Devi is passionate and knowledgeable about the country, the area and the food, and this tour will provide you with a unique insight into Galle Fort, whilst tasting delicious food!! Thanks Devi

A culinary must do! - Galle Fort is a historic site in Sri Lanka. It is charming with its cobbled streets and tiled roofs. It reminds me of something from Italy. Devi's walking food tour is an absolute delight. We walked in the late afternoon while the sun was setting. We walked and had food and drinks in different restaurants. My favourite was Sri Lankan traditional Hoppers with five different curries and sambols. It started with a delicious Arrack cocktail and ended with chocolate biscuit pudding laced with Arrack. The whole meal was a delight and satiated the palate. The tour ended with a walk to the ramparts to see a beautiful sunset. I recommend this tour for locals as well as people new to the Island. It's well worth the money spent.

A culinary and cultural must-do! - Devi is a charming, professional and knowledgeable guide. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed this meticulously planned tour. We also enjoyed meeting the other participants on the tour. We particularly enjoyed the hoppers, sea food platter and chocolate biscuit pudding. Delicious! As a 70yr old, the walking part of the tour was manageable and we loved the sunset on the ramparts. I recommend Devi’s Walking Food Tour Taste of Galle as a culinary and cultural must-do when visiting Sri Lanka!

An authentic and delicious experience - We met Devi at our first charming stop inside the Galle Fort. A very lovely person from whom I learnt not only about the food we ate, but also about Galle and Sri Lanka. We began our three and a half hour food adventure here at this historic hotel. We began with a delicious Arrack cocktail followed by hoppers which were so light and tasty accompanied with curries & sambols which were not too hot. The chef demonstrated the intricate art of making these hoppers which was very interesting. Our fellow foodies on Devi’s tour were three Australians whose company we enjoyed and ended the tour exchanging contact details. Meeting and bonding with these nice people was another plus point we enjoyed. A short walk from the hotel on the ancient cobblestone road, of this UNESCO Heritage site, took us to our second destination. A very unusual coffee cafe with beautiful interior decor. Seated around a large table we were served coffee so rich and sweet. At this stop, Devi told us about the history of both coffee and tea plantations in Sri Lanka. Our next stop was what I considered my highlight. A sea food restaurant. We thought we could not eat anything more till we saw our platter of delicious seafood that tasted straight from the beautiful ocean that surrounded this old sleepy town. It was nearly time for our view of a spectacular sunset on the old ramparts of Galle so we went to the ice cream parlour a few minutes walk away to choose from the many many flavors of ice cream. I was too full and refrained but the rest of our group had their ice cream and we proceeded to the ramparts which are walls that were built by the Dutch to protect Galle from invasions in the 1650s. The tour ended here. It was a very well planned food tour. Devi is charming, knowledgeable guide and leader, all restaurants, cafes, and hotels she took us to were clean and pleasing. I am so glad I did it! I highly recommend Devi’s Walking Food Tour of Galle Fort.

Devi’s Walking Food Tour - bringing Galle and its food to life - We had an excellent afternoon with some delicious food and thoroughly enjoyable conversation walking around the UNESCO heritage site of Galle Fort with Devi. I don’t want to spoil any of the food surprises but it was all excellent; the dessert was an absolute standout, the seafood was beautiful and fresh and the arrack cocktail was the best arrack had ever tasted for me. Galle itself is an amazing place and Devi’s walking commentary really brought it to life and made it that much more fascinating. I highly recommend Devi’s Taste of Galle Fort walking tour to those who want to really experience Galle and its cuisine.

Tasteful, sophisticated food tour - This is a higher-end food tour in the beautiful Galle Fort, which is well known for its great food scene and vibes. Our tour started off at the Galle Fort Hotel where we downed eggplant bruschetta, egg hoppers (made live in front of our table!) and a delectable selection of curries and other small plates - plus dessert. The drink served (passionfruit and mint) was perfect. We also got to do Sri Lankan coffee tasting, shopping at well known stores like Barefoot, feasted on a plate of fresh seafood - and finished off the tour with gelato. Needless to say, I was full! Devi is an amiable and intelligent guide. We really enjoyed our conversations with her and got to learn about the local history. We got to see several beautiful buildings and spots in Galle Fort. This combination of eating and walking was exactly what I needed. I'd highly recommend this tour. If I return to Galle, I'll be sure to go for Round 2!
