Highlights
- Swinbrook - Swinbrook is just one of several gorgeous villages or hamlets which we pass through. The default pub stop for lunch is also typically here too.
- North Leigh Roman Villa - I will introduce the Roman history of the region when we visit the ruins of this large Roman farm.
- Minster Lovell Hall & Dovecote - See the ruins of the medieval manor and also see the very picturesque village of Minster Lovell too. Lunch or drinks stop is also optional here too.
- Cotswolds - We will pass through and option to stop for WC or lunch or drink stops in various picturesque hamlets or villages.
- Burford - Burford is known as, ‘the gateway to the Cotswolds’ and its main street is so historic that lots of different historic TV dramas have been filmed here.
Another possible tea or lunch stop, Lots of cafes and tea shops here.

Typically, these tours are reserved by individual private groups. However, if more than two groups opt for the same date, the tour may include up to a total of 5 participants.
I, Alasdair de Voil, the owner of Visit Oxford Tours, personally conduct these tours. For insurance reasons, the tours are booked privately through me as a self-employed sole trader, providing a personalized service. They are not offered as a product of Visit Oxford Tours Ltd. This legal distinction will be confirmed in writing upon booking.
The standard itinerary runs from 10am to 5:30pm. The Cotswolds, a picturesque region of England, is just a 10-minute train ride from Oxford or 70 minutes from London. I am delighted to share the area’s sights and heritage with you on an active cycling tour.
Participants must be fit and at least 14 years old, as the Cotswolds’ roads involve a lot of uphill and downhill cycling. However, the beautiful scenery and charming villages make it worthwhile.
- Not recommended for anyone who is out of shape as this is demanding cycling at times
Location
Long Hanborough
Designated meeting point at private residence will be disclosed, after you book. It's about half hour walk from Hanborough train station, so it's actually easier to instead arrive by taxi in under half hour from Oxford city. Hanborough is 70 minutes train ride from London Paddington.

Best tour of the Cotswolds!! - My husband and I have travelled the world and this was definitely one of the top most wonderful experiences we have had! The tour guide was fantastic. The electric bikes worked great and were the best way to see the Cotswolds hands down. It was just our group of two couples and our guide. He was so knowledgeable and really let us take our time in the places we wanted to spend time. The pub we ate at for lunch was so delicious and in the most picturesque place. The whole 8 hours we couldn’t believe how beautiful it was!! Definitely take this tour! We will never forget it.

Best way to see Cotswolds - Had a blast. The bikes are in great shape and make it easy, the best way to see the Cotswolds as you see so much more than a car. Plus the ability to stop and check out a pub or village church made it fantastic. Great information and fun time! A must do!

A fabulous cycle tour - We really enjoyed this cycle tour. Our guide Laura was very kind and looked after us very well. The e-bikes were good quality and well maintained and were very welcome on the hilly roads of the Cotswolds! We’d definitely recommend this tour to others.

Great day bike riding in The Cotswolds - My daughter (21) and I (50) loved our day riding with Alasdair in The Cotswolds. Alasdair was a great tour host sharing his vast knowledge of local history whilst making the day lots of fun. The six hours riding electric bikes meant we were able to cover ground and see many sites. The country side was breathtaking. Really enjoyed our cafe lunch and short stop at an old pub on the way home.
Highly recommended for those that like bike riding and love a day in the country.

Electric bikes are a fun way to see the pretty villages and countryside in the Cotswolds. - We had a great time on the Cotswolds Electric Bike Tour. Alasdair went out of his way to make sure he had the right size bike for me (I’m 5 ‘ 1”) and had everything smoothly planned. He was a great tour guide and the electric bikes made it super easy and fun. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys seeing the sites and getting some exercise.

Beautiful country ride - I would suggest a few things. The roads are a bit rough so wear bike pants if you have them. You should be a decent rider for this tour. While Mike was all about safety, this is not for somebody who is not confident on a bike . Overall enjoyable. The bikes were great and the electric assist was needed for some of the hills . Not easy to get to Hans borough by train so give yourself time .
