Highlights
  • Edinburgh Castle - Our entire tour is framed by the presence of Edinburgh Castle, where we delve into its history and view it from three lesser-known perspectives.
  • Grassmarket - We take a break to dine in the historic Grassmarket, the heart of ancient Edinburgh’s civic life. Here, we uncover some history and explore its deep connections with Edinburgh’s food and drink culture.
  • Victoria Street - We stroll up this iconic street, pausing for light bites and coffee on Edinburgh’s most photographed street! Some believe it inspired Diagon Alley in Harry Potter, but we’re not entirely convinced…
  • Usher Hall - Edinburgh’s primary concert hall, but how old is it really, and what role does it play in the city’s food and drink scene? We enjoy our first bite and a drink here.
  • Lawnmarket - The lively road beneath the Castle, where we stop for coffee roasted in Edinburgh.
  • Gladstone’s Land - Possibly the world’s first skyscraper? It has been associated with traders and drinks merchants for centuries.
  • Royal Mile - We walk along the Royal Mile, highlighting points of interest before concluding with food and drink in one of the historic alleyways branching off Old Edinburgh’s main street.
  • St Giles’ Cathedral - We pause outside to discuss the connections between this church, Mary Queen of Scots, Sirloin Steak, and the car park at the back. Intrigued? You should be.
  • Edinburgh Farmers’ Market - On Saturdays only! We stop to meet some of the producers of fantastic Scottish produce, sample their goods, and hear their stories. A true ‘behind the scenes’ experience for food enthusiasts.
  • Edinburgh Farmers’ Market - We introduce you to some Scottish street food and the passionate suppliers behind them, whose love for their craft is evident in their food.
  • John Knox House Museum - We conclude the tour with a visit to a couple of nearby locations, each offering high-quality traditional food. We’ll ensure you leave well-fed and satisfied as we sample Cullen Skink (a traditional soup), Cranachan (a cream and fruit-based dessert), enjoy some whisky tasting, and, of course, try haggis!
