Highlights

Strathcarron to high camp at Bearnais, near Loch an Laoigh - 6 miles and 1550 feet ascent.

Torridon - Pick up from Jim in Grantown on Spey, or Inverness whichever suits you. Then drive to Strathcarron where we will then set up and load the bikes for the afternoon’s ride.

After setting up our bikes for two days bikepacking in this wild and remote region we will take a mixture of access track, singletrack and ‘no-track’. There is a breathtaking descent towards our camp which is surrounded by mountains on all sides. Once the tents are set up we might have time to explore the nearby loch before preparing our dinner. Enjoy a malt whisky as the sun sets before turning in for a memorable ride the next day.

Bearnais to Strathcarron via Bealach Alltan Ruairidh - 10 miles and 725 feet ascent.

Torridon - Don’t let the numbers fool you, this is a tough day! After we break camp a route must be found south from the loch towards Bendronaig Lodge. Depending upon prevailing conditions and our progress there are two options now available: some steep hike-a-bike with sections of carrying to access incredible hardly ridden singletrack or a longer, spectacular route on estate tracks out to the south of this with some road to finish.

Drive from Strathcarron up to our friendly and comfortable camping cabin in Shieldaig. There we will treat ourselves to dinner at the local hotel where seafood is a popular choice. Not too many celebratory drinks tonight as we have two big days coming up!

Annat to high camp in lower Coire Lair - 15 miles and 1575 feet ascent.

Torridon - After a short transfer to Annat we will first get 7 miles of road riding done to make for a more flowing descent on Day 4. Once off of the road it is pretty chilled riding as far as The Tea Shed before a technical ascent to our camp for the night. We will take it easy on these last miles and be sure to unweight our bikes as the many drainage ditches are negotiated. Once again we are surrounded by spectacular mountains at our camp and can look forward to the famous, rocky descent to the road in the morning.

Coire Lair to Annat via the Torridon classic descent - 15 miles and 1350 feet ascent

Torridon - Today there is no intro or real warm up. We are straight into the down after the first few pedal strokes. Some of the drops and corners might be best taken with caution but rest assured you will have a huge grin on your face as you stop to negotiate the railway platform at Achnashellach!
Now an easy ascent before we get onto singletrack which increases in technicality as we reach and pass the bothy at Clach nan Con-fionn. The final section of this ascent is loose, steep and will involve some effort to push your bike up.
The mountain descent which has a bit of everything, all the time encircled by some of the most unique mountains in Europe. The flow on this route is first class with clear open sections followed by loose rocky chutes, then some slabs before the descent reveals Loch Torridon and Beinn Alligin as our finale. Back at sea level enjoy a celebratory dinner after four days riding in one of the most highly rated areas in Europe.
