Highlights
  • Tonto National Forest - After we leave the cattle ranch, we will be driving through high plains dessert with Juniper and other pine trees. We will then travel on a forest service road along mountain passes to an old mining facility that overlooks the Salt River Canyon. We will then stop and look at several old mining buildings and take in the views of the Salt River Canyon. The stop will take approximately 30 minutes.
  • Salt River Canyon Scenic Drive - The ride will continue past Cenec Lake and its abandoned resort. Then there will be a short drive back on the highway back to the starting point.
  • Chrysotile - Once you arrive, there will be a short safety talk. Then the ride will start on a trail that is mostly dirt and small rocks. The beginning of the trip will drive along the ridgeline of the mountain where you will be able to look out over high plains and deep canyons. We will be passing through a 100,000 acre cattle ranch with a high likelihood of seeing the cattle her.

Ash Creek Canyon in Chrysotile, AZ is the area of Tonto National Forest Northeast of Globe, AZ. This off-road adventure travels through land that the Forest Service deems the most natural untouched land in Arizona. It is one of the most beautiful areas in the entire state.

Expect to see beautiful mountainous desert scenery including; Unique trees, plants, cactus, and wildflowers that are native to the Sonoran Desert. You will also experience the beautiful canyon views including sheer cliffs, Ash Creek, and even the Upper Salt River. There will be lots of picturesque views of: Wild Animals such as Eagles and other birds, Snakes, Lizards, and Free-Range Cattle. You will experience the Adventure of off-roading and being able to travel through forest trails and rocky mountain paths. The Tour will take you into wild and rarely traveled places you’d be unlikely to see on your own. The tour is guided and driven by our experienced tour guides to ensure safety.

The trip starts with meeting in a parking lot off of US Highway 60, mile marker 283. You will see our tour guides waiting with off-road vehicles lined up. There is a large safe area to park.
