The Tomàs Mallol Cinema-Collection Museum is a standing, charitable organization, accessible to public as a hub for academic, cultural and leisure activities, dedicated to the welfare of society and its growth.
It was established following the purchase of Tomás Mallol’s collection of cinema and pre-cinema artifacts by the City of Girona on January 28, 1994.
The museum serves to facilitate the understanding and learning of the history of moving images and cinema by preserving, conducting research, interpreting and displaying various collections. These collections contain items that reflect the manner in which images were portrayed prior to the advent of cinema and outline the technological progression that paved the way to the creation of the cinematograph in 1895.
