Our journey will lead us to the Giza Plateau in order to investigate the grand pyramids, the sole survivors of the Ancient World’s Seven Wonders. Khufu’s pyramid, the biggest of the triplets, is a testament to the engineering marvels of the Old Kingdom era dating back to the 3rd millennium BC. His offspring, Khafre, has a pyramid situated close by that even seems larger due to its construction upon higher ground. Comparatively, Menkaura, Khafre’s heir, has a pyramid which stands less than half as tall as that of his grandfather, Khufu. In addition to his pyramid, Khafre also constructed the Great Sphinx as part of his complex, depicting Ra-Harakhte, the god of the rising sun. The Sphinx bears Khafre’s facial features. After unravelling the secrets of these three pyramids, we’ll proceed to the awe-inspiring Egyptian Museum. Our guide will steer us back in time to the genesis and evolution of ancient Egypt. It goes without saying that our museum visit won’t be concluded without feasting our eyes on the famed TUTANKHAMUN COLLECTION.
