Highlights
  • The Goolwa Barrage - Our Adventure Cruise departs from the Main Wharf in the old river port town of Goolwa.

Cruise to the Goolwa Barrage, through the lock and into the Coorong National Park to view the mouth of the River Murray.

  • Coorong National Park - From the mouth the cruise heads into the pristine waters of the Coorong, past the spectacular white sand dunes and birdlife, as your captain provides an informative and entertaining commentary on the passing scenes, bird life and history of the area.

  • Younghusband Peninsula - Disembark for a guided walk through the sand dunes of the Younghusband Peninsula to the undisturbed white sandy beaches of the Great Southern Ocean. Along the walk your guide will talk about the cockle industry here, the sand dune flora and fauna and how the Aboriginal people lived in the area.

  • Ewe Island - A delicious lunch of cold meats and salads is served with tea or coffee (special meals are available by prior request

  • vegetarian, gluten free etc) as the cruise continues deeper into the Coorong waterway. As you pass the Ewe Island and Tauwitchere Barrages, that separate the estuary Coorong from fresh water Lake Alexandrina, your captain will explain the man-made barrage and lock system that extends along the River Murray and tell you of the associated benefits and environmental impacts.
Deep into the Coorong, at Cattle Point, walk with your guide into the sand dunes again to learn more about the Aboriginal occupation of the area, see the middens left around their old campsites and discover fresh water as the Aboriginals did.

Afternoon tea is served as the cruise returns past the imposing sand dunes and back through the lock to the Goolwa Wharf where the cruise ends.

So good for the Spirit! - This was one of the best tours we’ve ever experienced. The Coorong is such a special place. So much bird life and wildlife to be seen. All the crew, Kirk, Jessica & Mark, were fantastic, so professional and friendly. The vessel was extremely comfortable and the food was top quality, using local produce. Thank you Spirit of the Coorong.

A must do when you're in the Fleurieu Region - The Spirit of the Coorong 6 hour cruise is a must do if you're in the Fleurieu Region between October and May. We did the six hour cruise and the boat was captained by a very knowledgeable pilot who kept the commentary interesting. I can't fault the crew who were friendly and engaging. The meals served contained local native ingredients and there was plenty to go around. Our local guide took us through a smoking ceremony on one of the walks and it was an incredible experience.

An excellent cruise on the Coorong. - The cruise was excellent. The guides, Kurt, Jess, and Mark were very informative and pleasant. The food and refreshments were very good. Of particular importance was the education on the environment and culture of the area which gave us all a new appreciation and perspective.

Full day Coorong Cruise - Loved our full day experience of the Coorong National Park. We did lots of different things, Indigenous learnings, Murray River mouth visit and information, Kuti Shuffle, Barrage & lock, Beach walks, talks & views, many different points of interest shown and heaps of bird life and seals. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Morning and afternoon teas with Indigenous products were a treat and the kuti tasting, that sauce was good. Would reccomend this tour.

We have been ripped off - We are extremely upset, we have had the $310 cost of the trip taken twice from our bank account when we only had one booking for my wife and myself. Why has this occured?
