My visit to Manakamana Temple was a spiritually enriching experience, surrounded by natural beauty and cultural heritage. The temple is situated about 106 kilometers from Kathmandu and 12 kilometers south of Gorkha. The journey to Manakamana Temple is an adventure in itself. To reach the temple, visitors must take a thrilling cable car ride that spans over 2.8 kilometers from the base station at Kurintar, which is located along the Prithvi Highway, a major route connecting Kathmandu and Pokhara. The cable car ride, which takes about 10 minutes, offers breathtaking views of the Trishuli River, lush green valleys, and the Himalayan ranges in the distance. The temple is an architectural marvel with traditional Nepali pagoda-style design. Upon reaching the temple, one is greeted by the serene and spiritual atmosphere, with the air filled with the fragrance of incense and the sound of temple bells. Devotees offer prayers, fruits, and other offerings, hoping that the goddess will fulfill their wishes. The temple courtyard offers a panoramic view of the surrounding hills and the Trishuli River, adding to the tranquility of the place. Tips for Travelers Best Time to Visit- Early mornings are ideal for visiting the temple as it’s less crowded and the views are clear. Avoid visiting during monsoon season as the cable car service may be disrupted due to weather conditions. - Visiting Manakamana Temple is a journey of both spiritual and scenic delight. The combination of the serene temple ambiance, the adventurous cable car ride, and the stunning natural beauty makes it a must-visit destination in Nepal. Whether you are a spiritual seeker or a traveler in search of unique experiences, Manakamana Temple offers something profound and unforgettable.

A great day of Manakamana visit - It was a wonderful family trip. We reached there via Manakamana Cable Car. It was a very busy day and thousands of people were flocking there to show their gratitude and to worship the Goddess Manakamana. People believe that Devi Manakamana fulfills every wishes of devotees they pray for. The landscape of the Manakamana Gorkha is astonishing and the views of mountains from there is an unforgettable memories.

What an experience! - My experiences of the tour are as follows - 1. Pick-up time - the start time of the tour was 7 am when it was booked. But I was informed one day before the tour that the pick-up time would be 5 am to avoid traffic on Sunday. I would not have booked the tour if I knew the pick-up time would be as early as 5 am! 2. Hotel shuttle service in private car - there was no such service when I was picked up from my hotel. Instead, I walked with the Guide for a few minutes and waited for the tourist bus at a street corner for 25 minutes. The bus did drop me off at my hotel at the end of the tour though. 3. The tourist bus - it was a 16-seater mini bus with no air conditioning. It was fully packed (or even overloaded). It was the least I could expect from a tour booked through Viator. 4. The journeys - it took more than one hour in the morning for the bus to be filled up with passengers who were local tourists. The schedule time of the return journey was 3 pm but the bus only turned up at 3:40 pm and it was only until 4:30 pm that all the passengers were onboard to drive off. The roads were bumpy and dusty. Since there was no air conditioning in the bus and windows were opened, after the 4-hour ride each way, I was heavily covered with dust at the end of the tour. 5. Itinerary - the pick-up time was 5 am and I was dropped off at my hotel at 8:30 pm. It was a long long day but the only sight to see was the Manakamana Temple. Visits to the Temple as well as the shops there around were done by noon but I had to wait for hours to be taken back to Kathmandu. The tour was not worthwhile at all. 6. One good point - it was indeed an experience to see local people visiting their popular temple on Sunday. I also got to know Nepal better by talking to my Guide Binod for hours while awaiting for the return journey.
