Highlights
  • Downton - Downton Abbey Village

The first part of our journey sees us head out of the hustle and bustle of London and into the serene expanses of the Cotswolds, England’s largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Nestled in the rolling hills is the quaint village of Bampton. This little traditional English village has most recently been the filming location for the popular period drama television series, Downton Abbey. You’ll see the home of Isobel Crawley, the Downton Cottage Hospital, the village church, as well as the location for two fictional local pubs, The Grantham Arms and The Dog & Duck.

  • Cotswolds - The Cotswolds & Bourton-on-the-Water

After a brief journey through some of the most beautiful countryside in England, we will arrive at our next destination. Straddling the River Windrush is the lovely village of Bourton-on-the-Water, also known as the ‘Venice of the Costwolds’. This quintessentially English village is a must-see for all visitors to the Cotswolds.

Enjoy a traditional afternoon tea experience in a riverside café, or take a stroll down the river banks and peruse the eclectic mix of local stores offering everything from homemade ice cream to charming gifts for friends and family back home.

  • Blenheim Palace - This awe-inspiring stately home, the current private residence of the 11th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, is perhaps best-known as the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.

Admire the stunning details behind the portraits, tapestry and furniture in the lavishly decorated State Rooms, which includes ornate furniture by Boulle, Savonniere carpet and the iconic ‘Victories’ series of tapestries celebrating the Duke’s victory over the French armies of ‘The Sun King’, Louis XIV, at the Battle of Blenheim.

Enjoy a stroll through the beautifully landscaped formal gardens designed by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown and more than 2,000 acres of parkland, or walk in the footsteps of Sir Winston Churchill. Visit his most cherished outdoor places on the grounds of Blenheim Palace, including the spot where he proposed to Clementine Hozier.

  • London Victoria Station - London Victoria Train Station

Your tour will finish outside London Victoria Train Station, centrally located and easily accessible by national rail and underground, it is serviced by the Victoria, District and Circle Lines and is in Travel Zone 1.

Delightful day with quality host. - Delightful day touring the Palace and 2 villages. Sherry was an impressively skilled coach driver and Phil was an endless lot of knowledge who kept us educated and entertained during the rides between stops. Only wish we’d had a little more time explore during the stops. Highly recommend.

Perfect Day in The Cotswolds - Our guide for the day, Phil was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable, informative, polite, professional and a snappy dresser. Blenheim Palace was amazing. We had 2 hours there - which was great - but we know we need to come back in the future and spend a whole day to do the grounds and gardens properly. Bourton on the Water was a very pretty place and a good spot for lunch. Quite busy with lots of families picnicking by the river on a hot day The visit to Bampton was a treat for the Downton Abbey fans among us and we all enjoyed a beer in the pub before the trip back to London We were in safe hands wit our driver Hamid This is our second tour with Evan Evans and I thoroughly recommend them

Our tour guide was Rosie and our bus driver was Mr Singh. The trip was excellent. The guide was consistently considerate, thoughtful and informative. She provided excellent context and advice, not only for our current trip but for other tour opportunities in the greater London area. We found the tour enriching and entertaining!

Highly recommended trip - The tour was exactly what I was hoping for. We wanted to have a glimpse of parts of England outside of London and this was perfect. The trip was made even better by Manon. She was so knowledgeable, friendly and made the trip run so smoothly. A bonus was finding out some scenes from Bridgerton were filmed at Blenheim Palace. Thanks Manon for a great day!

Dream come true - I came from the other side of the world (New Zealand) to visit my family and to see some of your lovely country. My daughter arranged for us to go on an Evan Evans tour to Blenheim Palace as part of a Cotswolds tour. I have wanted to go to Blenheim Palace for many years and it was basically a fulfilment of a dream to have such a wonderful tour. Magnificent venue, warm and knowledgeable tour guide, Chrissie, and expert driver, Dave. They were marvellous and a credit to your firm. I wanted to thank them as they enhanced our day and made it one to be remembered for the rest of my life. It was brilliant all round. Jane Baker
