Highlights
  • The Lamb - Begin your tour at a Victorian-style pub where Charles Dickens once drank. English Heritage calls it “an exceptional piece of Victoriana”.
  • Crown Tavern - Next, head to the tavern where Lenin drank before revolutionary duties took him to Russia. It’s believed he may have even met with Stalin there. More recently, it was featured in a scene from Notes on a Scandal, starring Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett. Enjoy a good pint of ale here.
  • Ye Olde Mitre - Then, visit one of the hardest-to-find pubs. It’s proudly traditional (no TVs), and long may it stay that way. Elizabeth I is rumored to have been a patron (one story says she danced around a cherry tree that still stands). Your guide will take you to the most famous pub for journalists since 1667. Many literary greats and journalists – from Samuel Johnson and Dickens to the Fleet Street writers of the 20th century – have found a spot in its maze-like interior. Enjoy a pint in a pub where the beer cellars were once prison cells.
  • Blackfriars Bridge - Discover the quirky pub with its extravagant religious-themed art nouveau interior.
  • The Seven Stars - One of the few places in the area to survive the Great Fire of London, the tiny Seven Stars pub boasts over four centuries of history. Located just behind the Royal Courts of Justice, it’s a popular spot for legal professionals.

Historic Pub Tour - Mark was fantastic, the tour was super fun and informative! Four historical pubs in winding alleys that we never would have discovered on our own.

We had a great time! - Because it was a Sunday evening, many of the “typical” pubs were closed. But that didn’t stop my guide Dani. She was awesome, rerouted the tour and brought me to pubs that were indeed open. She knew so much about the London pubs, the lagers, the bitters and she knew pretty much everyone. Dani is someone that loves her job, and it shows. It was a perfect way to start my London trip!
