Highlights
  • Trafalgar Square - We will meet at one of the most popular meeting places in London, this famous central square. We will discuss the statues, the buildings and the battle that gave the square its name.
  • The Mall - This tree-lined road shoots out the front of Buckingham Palace. If you have ever watched clips of a Royal event or UK state ceremony, you have already seen the Mall. We will walk along the road, stopping the discuss the historical palaces and mansions that line the route.
  • St. James’s Palace - 16th century palace still in use today! King Henry VIII had the palace built in the 1530s for one of his six wives (more off that story on the tour). This lesser-known palace still holds an important place within the palace system. Ceremonies, ambassador accreditations and stays at the royal apartments all take place at St James’ Palace.
  • Buckingham Palace - From King George III to King Charles III, Buckingham Palace has been the home of the British monarchy for nearly 300 years. At this unmissable site we will discuss its changing role, its residents and its long history.
  • St. James’s Park - We’ll stroll through the oldest and perhaps most beautiful of London’s Royal Parks. You will see locals and visitors enjoying the sunshine as well as squirrels, ducks and the royal pelicans (yes you read that correctly…)
  • Westminster Abbey - Home of the Church of England with foundations dating back to the 11th century, this is one of Europe’s architectural masterpieces. Royal weddings, state funerals and coronations are some of the national ceremonies that take place at Westminster Abbey.
  • Parliament Square - Parliament square is the political centre of the country. At its four sides you’ll see the houses of parliament, the home of the Church of England, state departments and the Supreme Court. We will also discuss some of the great defenders of freedom whose statues align the square.
  • Houses of Parliament - The most famous and important building in the country! Big Ben, Westminster Hall, both houses of Parliament, the Palace Yard and the Central Lobby are all parts of this iconic masterpiece. We will run through the different sections of the building and the important roles they play within the UK constitution.
  • Changing of the Guard - DAYS PERMITTING

The Royal Guards change at 11am every other day starting Monday. Therefore, if it is a day on which the guard change is taking place, we will grab a spot at the front of the Mall and watch the most famous guard change in the world!
