Highlights
  • Burford - The day begins by departing London and travelling towards the quintessentially English countryside of The Cotswolds; an area that is famous for its beautiful landscape, charming villages and honey-coloured stone cottages. Our first stop will be the traditional town of Burford; known as the ‘Gateway to the Cotswolds’. This is a historic place where many houses date back nearly 600 years and little has changed for centuries. During the visit there will be time to explore Burford, visit the magnificent church and stroll along the high street to visit a mix of independent family-run shops.
  • Bibury - The village of Bibury is often described as the ‘prettiest village in England’. It’s charming scene is a snapshot of traditional English country life. Wander along the gentle river and see the iconic Arlington Row; a set of weavers cottages that are now one of the symbols of the Cotswolds.
  • Bourton-on-the-Water - Our lunch stop is the charming settlement of Bourton-on-the-Water. The town’s river setting has seen it become known as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’.
  • Stow-on-the-Wold - We’ll continue through the countryside to Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest town in the Cotswolds that is a jumble of ancient inns & antique shops located around the bustling market square. This historic town was a place of inspiration for JRR Tolkien and is also where the last battle of the English Civil War took place in 1646.

FABULOUS..DON'T MISS THIS ONE - Had a fabulous one day tour from London, of 4 Cotswold villages with "Go Tours". Our friendly driver, Rob, was a wealth of information, and dry humour, about the areas we drove through, as well as the 4 villages (make that 5.. we drove back through Chipping Norton). Thoroughly enjoyed the small group, time to view the villages + lunch at our leisure, and the drive back through the countryside to a selection of British music from Rob. A great day.. don't miss this one. Thanks Rob !!

A very quick view of the cotswolds region. - This tour gives a brief view of what the cotswolds is all about. Our guide/driver was very good-natured and knowledgeable. There is just too much ground to be covered in a meaningful way, in my opinion. We were left wanting more.. The cotswolds are hard to navigate if you're not driving or don't have time to spend a few days. Taking the train for a daytime would not be worth it. My friend fell on one of the paths and required first aid for multiple facial abrasions. A couple of Spanish tourists jumped in to help while I returned to the van for our guide. He did a great job providing first aid and subsequent care and turned what could have been a very negative experience into a tolerable one. Overall a good journey but not as full as one could hope. No fault of the tour itself.

Exquisite small villages overwhelmed by tourists. - The four villages we visited were very beautiful and truly memorable. However, as the tour was on Sunday, they were overrun by visitors. Their cafes and restaurants could not cope with such numbers and the service was very slow. The Cotswolds are to be avoided on Sundays.
