Highlights
 • Imbros Gorge - Hiking in the countryside is a great thing to do on Crete, an island full of beautiful, inviting gorges with stunning views. Samaria is one that many people visit, but it’s a strenuous trek. Imbros, though, is a gorge for everyone, a rocky but easy 5-mile (8-km) walk.

After your hotel pickup in a comfortable, air-conditioned shuttle van, travel to Imbros Gorge with your guide. Begin your walk and take in the beauty of the limestone gorge. Pass the lovely villages of Vrisses, Askifou and Imbros.

In the village of Komitades, the terminus for the hike, enjoy some free time to explore the village and eat a nice, leisurely Cretan lunch (not included).

 • The Castle of Frangokastello - After lunch, drive to Frangokastello, an imposing castle built by the Venetians in the 14th century as a garrison to impose order on the rebellious locals. Your guide will discuss the history of the castle before you have free time to explore it. Cool off afterward with a dip in the Libyan Sea. At the end of the tour, relax on the drive back to your hotel.

Very eventful and entertaining day of hiking. - A very nice hike, perfectly organized and very well looked after and explained by our tour guide Claudia. Also a big compliment to the bus driver, who drove us safely and gracefully through the mountains.

Fantastic hike in the Imbros Gorge - From the first steps, it was clear that this hike through the Imbros Gorge would be a highlight of our Crete vacation. The approximately 8 km long route led us through a landscape that is so picturesque that it almost seems unreal. With every meter we went deeper into the gorge, new, breathtaking panoramas revealed themselves. Our guide Marianne turned out to be a real treasure. With expertise and infectious enthusiasm, she led us safely through the gorge and enriched our tour with interesting stories and facts. Special thanks also go to Tarek, whose recommendation led us to this adventure in the first place. His warm and knowledgeable advice was invaluable in choosing the perfect excursions for our family.

Unique Imbros Gorge hike - The tour was wonderful, with breathtaking views. The Imbros Gorge is a natural wonder of Crete. We experienced an easy hike through the 6.1 km long gorge, which impresses with its spectacular landscape and Mediterranean flora. The narrowest passage, only two meters wide, and the rock walls up to 300 meters high are unique. A must for every visitor to Crete! Marianne led us through the gorge competently and with a lot of charm. A big thank you to Tarek for recommending the Imbros Gorge hike! Friendly and competent, he took the time to find the most suitable excursions for us.

Great solo experience - Extremely interesting with some great highlights along the way, especially at narrow parts of the gorge. I went solo and it worked well as you enter as an individual or with your friend/ family group and go at your own pace. Friendly tour guide. Great views on the way there & back too, as a bonus.

This was a day trip although the... -
This was a day trip although the actual hike through the Gorge was 2-3 hours, as it was a long drive from the pick up and drop off points. There were two guides who gave information during the drive, but the hike was independent so everyone could go at their own pace. The scenery was fantastic, and even though it was basically a slight downhill hike, the trail was mostly uneven rocks which made it a bit challenging. But lots of fun and definitely worth it.

Not for the faint-hearted. Having... -
Not for the faint-hearted. Having walked the Samarian Gorge some years ago we thought that this would be a lot easier as it's less than half the distance. But imagine walking along pebbles, such as those on Chesil Beach for 5 miles and you'll start to see what it's like. Our calves took about 3/4 days to recover! But is was a wonderful experience and the dip in the Libyan Sea afterwards was wonderful. Wear good shoes - walking boots are advisable not trainers.

A beautiful hike with light and shadow - The hike began above the Imbross Gorge. The path goes steadily downhill, is rocky and quite demanding. Since we are not experienced hikers, the 8 km through the gorge in the time limit of 3.5 hours was a challenge. Unfortunately, there was little time to linger at one or another place and enjoy the surroundings. The meeting point at the end of the hike, the Imbross tavern, was, in short, a disappointment. The food was so-so (Greek salad made only of cucumbers and tomatoes, the potato wedges were still raw), the service was just OK, the cappuccino was an instant product, not good at all and also had lumps in it. All of this at rather steep prices for Crete. The last part of the tour was relaxing. More time should be planned for crossing the gorge, the meeting point in this tavern is very questionable in terms of value for money.

Rude guides - Very rude tourguides. Shooting at other visiters of the gorge. Threatening children. Ignoring people who were in their tour. Not nice except for the owner of a taverne.....
