Highlights
  • Cappadocia - Located in south-central Turkey, the surreal landscape of Cappadocia, southeast of Ankara, is renowned for its unique geological formations known as fairy chimneys. These towering, cone-shaped structures were formed over time by the erosion of soft volcanic ash. Historically, various cultures have carved into these formations to create homes, castles (such as Uchisar), and even entire underground cities like Kaymakli and Derinkuyu, which served as refuges for early Christians. The nearby city of Kayseri serves as the gateway to this remarkable area.
  • Goreme Open-Air Museum - The Goreme Open-Air Museum resembles an extensive monastic complex with numerous refectory monasteries, each featuring its own extraordinary church. It is a must-visit for any traveler in Cappadocia, situated in the heart of the region with easy access from all directions.
  • Pigeon Valley - Pigeon Valley is a favored tourist spot in the Cappadocia region of Turkey, celebrated for its stunning scenery, rock-carved dovecotes, and hiking trails. Highlights of Pigeon Valley include:

Rock-carved dovecotes: The valley is famous for its rock-carved dovecotes, created from the soft volcanic rock by ancient inhabitants. These dovecotes were used to raise pigeons for food and are a distinctive feature of the valley. Visitors can explore the dovecotes and learn about traditional life in Cappadocia.
Hiking: Pigeon Valley is a popular destination for hiking and trekking. Visitors can hike through the valley, enjoying the breathtaking scenery and natural rock formations.
Panoramic views: The valley offers sweeping views of the surrounding landscape, including fairy chimneys, cave dwellings, and other natural wonders of Cappadocia. Visitors can take in the stunning scenery from the top of the valley.

  • Ozkonak Underground City - This underground city, built beneath the hill known as the Citadel, was opened to visitors in 1964. The residents of Ozkonak (Enegup in Greek) village constructed their homes around nearly one hundred tunnels of the underground city. Today, the locals still use the most accessible parts of the tunnels as cellars, storage areas, and stables, which they reach through their courtyards. The Ozkonak Underground City features low, narrow, and sloping passages. While the city extends 8 floors below ground, only 4 are open to the public, with spaces organized around ventilation shafts.
  • Pasabag - Pasabag in Cappadocia is situated on the road to Zelve, coming from Goreme or Avanos. Here, visitors can marvel at the striking earth pillars located in the middle of a vineyard, giving the place its name, which means “the Pacha’s vineyard.” Pacha, meaning “General” in Turkish, is a common nickname. This site is also known as Monks Valley, named after some cones carved in tuff stones that stand apart. Currently, there is a vineyard and several tuff cones right next to the road.

Great day tour! - Bensu was an amazing guide who provided lots of info at each stop - we felt like we had enough time at each stop and decided to skip the open air museum as we had already paid for entry at two different places. The place we stopped for lunch was really good and good price! We had a great day thank you
