Customized Tuscan Tour - We had such an amazing time with Monica during this tour! She picked us up at our villa in Manciano and we had a wonderful FULL day with her. She communicated via email and Whatsapp well in advance of our trip to ensure we had the itinerary we wanted. She not only took us to wineries, but also to an amazing lunch, as well as we stopped quite a few times to hear a story about a specific area, or take a few photos. Our first stop was a small town called Sabana- she is well versed in the history of the area, we stopped in to see the cathedral and walked a bit on the main street of the village. We then went to the famous Antorini vineyards for a tour and tasting. The setup is absolutely gorgeous out here in the country and we had a beautiful setting for our tasting waiting for us. The host was so gracious and also served a very nice charcuterie board with our wines. She was helpful in understanding what to pair with each wine as well as what would cleanse the palate and prepare you for the next wine. We then went to one of the many "Agritourism" restaurants out in the Tuscan region; this one was called Aia del Tufo and it was fantastic! We sat in an outside 'picnic' type area (covered) and had a wonderful lunch, completely made from ingredients raised and produced by this farm. i will never forget the chicken cacciatore... best i've ever had in my life. We also visited a smaller winery called Sassotondo and my goodness, so much fun to spend time with these folks. One of the owners did a foreign exchange to the US and has actually attended Sturgis (LOL!).. what a sweet person and she walked us thru their winery, we were able to watch the team "at work" and then we had a lovely tasting here as well. We stopped here and there on the way back for photos and historic points of interest. We saw Pitiligiano from a distance and I can tell you, we will be returning to continue our exploration. Monica gave us a nice little gift as well!
