Cabo de La Vela

Salinas de Manaure - The Manaure Salt Flats, located in the La Guajira region, offer you an unforgettable experience when discovering the ancient art of salt extraction. This stunning landscape, dotted with crystalline salt pools, is testament to the ancestral skills of local communities who have perfected this craft over generations.

Your itinerary begins with a fascinating immersion in the salt extraction process, where you can observe up close how local workers carry out this meticulous work. From the crystallization of salt in the extensive salt flats to manual harvesting, each step reveals the deep connection between the land and the laborious hands that care for it.

Cabo de La Vela - After visiting the salt flats, they will make a technical stop in Uribia to buy snacks and go to the bathroom. You will leave for Cabo de La Vela, it will be a journey of approximately 2 hours. Upon arrival, you will have lunch at the accommodation.

Parque eólico Jepírachi - One of the famous parks of La Guajira, you can pass through the park appreciating the large structures that supply energy to a large part of the department and the country.

Bahia Portete - During the tour you will be able to appreciate the beautiful views of the different bays, including Portete Bay.

Bahia Hondita - The last bay that you will appreciate before reaching the magnificent destination of Punta Gallinas

Dunas de Taroa - When you arrive at Punta Gallinas you will find the impressive Taroa Dunes, a beautiful expanse of sand from the Sahara Desert. You will have space to take a bath in the icy waters that join the dunes.

Mayapo

Well-planned adventure - The landscape was so fascinating, and we got both beautiful views and a read list I understand of what life is like for the Wayuu people in the region. There are lots of stops to see sand dunes, lighthouses, cliffs and short hikes, as well as several beaches to swim at or relax at. The days are busy but the cadence is well planned out. The food is good and there are several options at each meal. No one is in a hurry at meals, but they’re all very welcoming and kind. There were options for accommodation and I stayed in hammocks both nights and absolutely loved it and slept very well. If you get an option to go to the turtle conservation center near Punta Gallinas I recommend it, it was a little extra but the money goes to the conservation (this tour company is the one that partners with local nonprofits to give back to the community) we got to see baby turtles! Franco was an awesome driver and guide, he answered lots of questions, was friendly and flexible, gave us options, and was patient when some of us had more rudimentary Spanish skills. He also drove very well during what is inevitably a very bumpy ride in this region. If you get car sick, make sure to bring motion sickness medication but it was an adventure and so so worth it!

Magic tour - It is an amazing plan, everything perfectly organized, very punctual, the friendliness from the reception at the agency until finishing the tour was incredible. Some details to improve, but not from the agency but from the hotel that belonged to us in the sail.

Everyone should try it. - An amazing tour, we loved it too much. I recommend you try the chinchorro on the first night to see how they do, the room is very comfortable too but the experience of the chinchorro must be had. If you have lunch in the dunes order the vegetarian, it is the richest of all

An incredible adventure. - It's not like Colombia. Totally exotic. An adventure rich in emotion both humanly and at landscape level. Go to this agency with your eyes closed. There were six of us in the car, the other agencies eight... They are known to develop projects to support the development of indigenous communities. They're not here to line your pockets at your expense. And it feels.

Unforgettable experience - Fantastic landscapes, very interesting cultural experience, great variety of activities. We loved everything. It should be noted that it is not a Tour with Guide but there is an initial theoretical explanation before leaving and then the trip is made only with a driver. Our driver knew many interesting stories and things but it is difficult to interact with him if he does not speak perfect Spanish and knows the local accent. Anyway great experience

Thanks Joshua & Vladimir - We planned with this agency a 3D-2N tour in la Guajira. - Special mention first to first our driver Vladimir, who was an expert in driving, and making these long period of driving less inconfortable and as smooth as possible. - Special mention to our English speaking guide Joshua, who was able to explain us the history of this territory and of the Wayuu people. I strongly advice a guide, our experience with Joshua was really worth it, and we were really glad to be part of his last trip before he leaves the region. - On the trip itself, the amount of driving is not to be underestimated. Long journey of driving, with start around 6am, but the car was comfy, with AC. - Our night stays were as confortable as possible, we took a private room, and it eased the trip, as we had fans and a mattress for the nights. Considering again the long hours driving and most of the time bumpy, we were glad to have had a nice night. - On the food proposed on the trip, the tour only includes 1 portion of main course. Sometimes portions can be a bit small, so I would advice to shop some snacks for your 3 days. They provide tons of water so no need to buy some in advance. - The trip itself, even though it can be long and bumpy, is definitely worth it. Very diverse landscapes: Caraibean beaches, desert next to an light blue ocean, mountains. Maybe you regret you are not stopping more often along your x hrs drive to take pictures and enjoy everything you can see from the windows. But the stops we made, with our guide explanations, were mind-blowing. - To sum-up, strongly advice this tour, even though our very good experience relied a lot on Joshua organisation and willingness and our driver skills rather than on the agency itself, which sometimes was not super reactive.
