Highlights

Ha Giang City - Quan Ba Heaven Gate - Lung Khuy Cave - Yen Minh

Quan Ba Heaven Gate - Quan Ba Heaven Gate is a stunning spot in Ha Giang Province, Vietnam. It serves as the initial gateway to the Dong Van Ky rock plateau and marks the beginning of the renowned “Road of Happiness.” From the mountain’s summit, visitors can admire the breathtaking scenery of the Dong Van rock plateau, including the expansive Quan Ba valley with its terraced fields and ethnic minority homes. In the distance, the Co Tien Twin Mountain, a natural marvel, is enveloped in clouds, creating a picturesque scene.

Lung Khuy Cave - Lung Khuy Cave is a natural marvel in Ha Giang Province, Vietnam. It is regarded as the most beautiful cave in Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cave is also part of the legend of a Mong ethnic couple who fell in love and sought refuge in the cave to escape their families’ disapproval.

Situated near the town of Tam Son in Quan Ba District, the cave stretches about 300 meters in length and rises 30 meters high, featuring numerous stalactites and stalagmites of various shapes and colors. The cave has two entrances, one facing the valley and the other the mountain. It is well-lit and equipped with wooden walkways for visitors to explore.

We will spend about 1 hour walking inside the cave.

Yen Minh - Travel to Yen Minh town to stay in a homestay.

Yen Minh - Tham Ma Pass - H’mong King Palace - Lung Cu Flag Point - The North Point - Dong Van Ancient Town

Yen Minh - At 8:00 AM, have breakfast at the homestay before continuing the loop.

Thẩm Mã Homestay - The Tham Ma pass spans about 5 km at an altitude of 1500 meters, featuring a sharply winding road. At the top of the pass, there is a checkpoint where you can capture photos of the winding s-shaped road. Ethnic minority children often wander around here with flowers.

We will stop at the checkpoint for about 20-30 minutes.

Dinh Vua Mèo - The Hmong King Palace in Ha Giang is a historic site that served as the residence of the Vuong Dynasty kings, who ruled over the Hmong ethnic people in the early 20th century. Constructed between 1898 and 1903, the palace combines Chinese and Hmong architectural styles. It comprises 64 rooms, 10 buildings, and 3 courtyards, adorned with images of sacred animals. A stone wall surrounds the palace for protection. The Vuong family amassed great wealth and power through opium trading and had alliances with both French colonialists and Ho Chi Minh’s revolutionaries. Recognized as a National Historic Landmark in 1993, the palace is now open to tourists.

We will stop at the checkpoint for about 30-60 minutes.

Lung Cu Flag Tower - Lung Cu Flag Pole is a national symbol of Vietnam, located at the country’s northernmost point, near the China border. It stands atop Lung Cu Peak, approximately 1,470 meters above sea level. The flag pole is 33 meters high and features a large Vietnamese flag measuring 54 square meters, symbolizing the 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam. Lung Cu Flag Pole is a site of pride and patriotism for the Vietnamese people and a tourist attraction offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

We will stop here for about 1 hour.

Northernmost Point of Vietnam - The North Point is the furthest border next to China, and the road from Lung Cu to The North Point is spectacular.

Dong Van Ancient Street - After a long day on the motorbike, you will stay in Dong Van ancient town. Dong Van ancient town is located in the center of Dong Van, surrounded by rocky mountains. The town is known for its centuries-old houses, lively highland markets, and spirited festive evenings. It’s a cultural and commercial hub of Dong Van town, where you can find cafes, restaurants, homestays, and souvenir shops. The ancient town strongly reflects Chinese architecture with red lanterns and images of sacred animals like dragons, phoenixes, turtles, and cranes, symbolizing power, longevity, wisdom, and peace.

Dong Van - Ma Pi Leng Pass - Nho Que River - Meo Vac Town - Du Gia Village

Ma Pi Leng Pass - Ma Pi Leng Pass is one of Vietnam’s most famous and perilous passes, known for its rugged curves and steep cliffs. The pass stretches about 20 km and rises 1,200 - 1,400 meters above sea level. It offers a breathtaking view of the Nho Que River and the Tu San Canyon, the deepest canyon in Southeast Asia. The pass is also a UNESCO Global Geopark, featuring unique rock formations and the cultural heritage of the ethnic communities in the area. Ma Pi Leng Pass is ideal for adventure and nature enthusiasts who wish to explore Ha Giang province’s beauty and diversity.

We will stop at several checkpoints along the pass with the best views, resting for about 30 - 45 minutes.

Nho Que River - Nho Que River flows through Ha Giang Province, Vietnam, and China. The river offers a stunning view of the Tu San Canyon, the deepest canyon in Southeast Asia, and the Ma Pi Leng Pass, one of Vietnam’s most famous and dangerous passes. The river is a popular destination for adventure and nature lovers who want to experience Ha Giang province’s beauty and diversity. We will take a boat trip along the river to admire the scenery, which will take about 2 hours (going down the river and up the mountain).

Meo Vac - We will stop for lunch in Meo Vac before continuing to Du Gia Village.

Du Gia - Du Gia village is a beautiful and tranquil place in Ha Giang province, situated in the heart of Du Gia national park. Though not as popular as other Ha Giang destinations like Dong Van, Meo Vac, or Lung Cu, it has its own charm and attractions. Du Gia village is home to 14 villages and 9 different ethnic minority groups, including the Tay, Hmong, and Lo Lo, each with unique traditions, costumes, and languages. You can visit the Du Gia waterfall, located just 5 km from the main town, a refreshing and scenic spot for swimming, rock jumping, or simply enjoying the view. The village offers stunning landscapes of mountains, rice fields, and traditional wooden houses.

Du Gia - 181 Road - Lung Tam Weaving village

Lùng Tám - Lung Tam weaving village is a place where you can observe the traditional Hmong linen weaving process, passed down through generations. Located at the foot of a high mountain in Lung Tam commune, Quan Ba district, Ha Giang province, the village is home to about 130 Hmong households who cultivate hemp and create various linen products, such as clothes, bags, scarves, and blankets.

The Hmong linen weaving process is intricate and labor-intensive, involving 41 steps from planting hemp to dyeing and embroidering the fabric. The Hmong people use natural materials and hand techniques to craft their unique and colorful patterns, reflecting their culture and identity.

Ha Giang Loop - Had an amazing time with this tour group! Everyone was so friendly it was super easy to make friends. Our group combined with the 3D2N and had 11 people on the first 3 days and 4 (my group of friends) on the last day, the group size was perfect. The food was amazing and the hostels were great and some had amazing views (we upgraded to the private rooms). Loc, my driver, spoke good English making communication super easy. He’s so funny and goofy and made everyone laugh a lot. But as funny and goofy as he is, he is also responsible and observant, making sure that everyone was riding together, had enough to eat, and got their perfect photo. He even bought me boba tea <3. Went when it was raining and had to waddle through a flooded road and climb over muddy roads, but even then I enjoyed every second of my time. Rain jacket, pants, and shoe covers were provided so no worries. Overall, had an amazing time and made everlasting memories!

The best experience of our trip - Really an experience not to be missed. Everything is amazing: mountain scenery, atmosphere, meals, karaokes. Everything's great. We were a small group of 5 left with the Odyssey hostel and it was perfect. Very organized, the homestays were clean and all drivers are welcoming. They do their utmost to ensure that you have the best experience possible. In the price you have activities, food, nights, motorcycle with easyriders (or not depending on what you choose), happy water (lots), and a t-shirt of the loop. I was lucky enough to be with Loc during those four days. I thank him so much for his safety, his explanations during visits, his availability, his private concerts along the way (he sings great), his evening outings, his confidence... He was really a love. I’m so sad that it’s over, it happened so fast! I recommend 1000% Ha Giang Loop.

Amazing landscapes, lovely people and Just Do It. - Ha Giang loop with Odyssey was one of my favorite experiences in my life. The homestay in the city was very nice with really cool swimming pool. Before the tour, the staffs was help me a lot. They were preparing rain jacket, shoes cover, water and even protection for your knees and elbows. The homestays they choose were so nice. H'Garden Dong Van Homestay and Tom's Du Gia Homestay are very nice. Going around the loops 4 days you can see amazing the landscapes. Every mountain, every valley was different views, different mountain is different views. Going through the villages and seeing the kids waving to you, that was sweet. I can't recommend enough for the loop. Come to Ha Giang and Just Do It.

unforgettable trip - We did the 4D3N Ha Giang tour with Odyssey Adventures and we can’t recommend it enough. It ticked all of our boxes: we didn’t want a big partying group but still wanted to have some fun in the evening, safety was really important to us and as close to a local experience as possible. Our guides delivered all of the above. Jonny and Phuong (our driver) are the kindest and most caring people you could meet. These people work so hard to make sure you have a special time. Jonny was our tour guide and his energy and positivity was infectious. Such a kind, genuine, funny and smiley person. We didn’t have the best weather but he kept our group energised throughout the trip. They also made sure we were very safe at all times - that was their top priority and you really couldn't feel it. We were a small group which meant we had time to see a lot of places and our driver knew when to go where to avoid the crowds. In the evenings we were joined by other small groups which meant we were a good number to enjoy the water fun, play games, socialise and sing karaoke if we wanted to. Our home stay was also absolutely perfect. Super clean, private and comfortable. Well worth it, you won't regret it! Thank you Jonny for this unforgettable trip. We have missed you and will never forget you ❤️ we were emotional when the trip was over. Thank you for sharing your positive energy with us.

Great tour, amazing views! - Views were stunning, the loop has amazing landscapes and it's worth it. I had to join another tour because we were just a few from Odyssey Tour. We were still with a small group, max 10 people so that was nice. We stayed in hostels that were a bit bigger than I was expecting, but it was clean. Food was always good along the way. Drivers were safe. Ha Giang Loop is getting very popular but our tour was able to avoid crowds on the main sites, which was nice. Would recommend!
