Sea Turtle Hatchery - Habaraduwa - Turtles are reptiles belonging to the order Chelonii, also known as chelonians by scientists and conservationists. These creatures are distinguished by their unique bony shell or carapace, which forms from their ribs and serves as a protective shield. Chelonians are an ancient group, with the earliest proto-turtles appearing over 220 million years ago during the Triassic Era. The order Chelonii, or Testudines, includes three types of members: turtles, tortoises, and terrapins.
Madu Ganga Biodiversity Area - The Madu Ganga is a small river that begins near Uragasmanhandiya in Sri Lanka’s Galle District, eventually expanding into the Madu Ganga Lake at Balapitiya. The river continues for another 4.4 km before emptying into the Indian Ocean.
Hikkaduwa Beach - Hikkaduwa Beach is located 98 km south of Colombo in Sri Lanka. The coral sanctuary along Hikkaduwa’s coast is a vast, shallow body of water surrounded by a reef, adorned with layers of colorful corals, and inhabited by numerous brightly colored fish.
Galle Fort - Situated in the Bay of Galle on Sri Lanka’s southwest coast, Galle Fort was initially constructed by the Portuguese in 1588 and later extensively fortified by the Dutch starting in 1649 during the 17th century.
