Highlights
  • Ahu Akahanga - On your sightseeing adventure, you’ll come across moai, stone giants that on average stand 13 feet (4 meters) tall and weigh 14 tons (13 metric tons). Said to represent ancestral spirits or preeminent tribal figures, some moai are placed upon ahu, or ceremonial sites.

After hotel pickup, your guide takes you to Ahu Akahanga, located on the southeastern coast of the island. Unlike most ahu, Akahanga has not been restored, allowing you to stumble upon the area as European explorers first did. The platform, about 59 feet (18 meters) long, originally contained about a dozen moai and is believed to be the burial site of Polynesian king Hoto Matu’a. Walk about the grounds sprawled with overturned moai that have pukao, decorative head topknots, with tribal fighting providing one explanation for this curious scene.

All day tour of Easter Island and Moai - This was an all-day tour of the Island's most interesting and memorable sites, from the quarry to the giant statues along the coast. It was a small group adventure and our guide gave the presentation in both English and Spanish, as we were a mixed group.

Moai and so much more - This was a very special experience. The moai were powerful and the opportunities to see and experience the culture were exceptional. The Kari Kari dance troupe was NOT a gentle hula. It was an athletic, artistic performance that was presented with a genuine warmth. In every way we felt welcomed to this island and left feeling enriched. The museum has a well presented collection that was a great place to start as we began our time on Rapa Nui. It provided valuable information and context for the people and culture on the island.

A Must O Tour! - Loved this tour, and the tour guide Daniella, was both knowledgeable and fun to be around. Lunch was far more than we expected- it was excellent! Daniella was great- she went above and beyond to show us all of the landmarks and provide information. She even helped me find and pick out quality souvenirs!

Experience imprinted in memory - I wanted to see Tongariki at least once in my life and I did it. During the three-day tour (see what I wrote for the visit to Orongo), we visited 10 archaeological sites. Fantastic, I highly recommend Rapa Nui Dream and Discovery for quality/price.

Amazing site - The quarry site is amazing. It is beautiful and awe inspiring. Pick-up and drop~off was convenient and the luncheon food was bountiful. The guide’s English and historical knowledge was inferior.

Slow Pace But Great Day - Overall it was a great day. The pace was much slower than we would have preferred. I would have liked to have spent less time at the recreated villages so we could have more time at the Quarry and the beach. Lunch was fantastic!
