Additional Information

Meet with your guide at the terminal of Cretan Spiti Travel at Eleftherias Square in front of Astoria Capsis Hotel at 08.30. We will drive to Gortyna, the Roman capital of Crete and Cyrenaica, first inhabited around 3200 BC. After visiting Gortyna, we will travel through the Mesara valley to explore the archaeological site of Phaistos and its palace, the most significant center of the Minoan civilization, and the wealthiest and most powerful city in southern Crete.

Following our visit to Phaistos, we will head to Matala, where you can enjoy some free time to swim in the crystal-clear waters and have an optional lunch. Finally, we will arrive at Zaros, a charming, unspoiled village renowned for its spring water, which is bottled and sold throughout Greece. Zaros is an ideal base for walkers to explore the beautiful nature, and it also features fine Byzantine monasteries and delicious farm-raised trout served in local tavernas and around the emerald-green Lake Votomos, which we will visit.
