Highlights
  • Loch Ness Region - Departing from Inverness, you’ll drive along the renowned Loch Ness, pausing at the iconic Urquhart Castle to admire the stunning views of Loch Ness. Then, continue on our journey to the Isle of Skye, with numerous other breathtaking vistas along the way. The further west we travel, the more spectacular the scenery becomes—this is just the beginning!
  • Loch Cluanie - Traveling through Glen Moriston, we’ll arrive at Loch Cluanie, a remarkable man-made loch offering views of the Five Sisters of Kintail. We then proceed through the magnificent Glen Shiel towards Eilean Donan Castle.
  • Shiel Bridge - As we navigate the winding paths of Glen Shiel, we’ll enjoy the awe-inspiring views while sharing the history of the Battle of Glen Shiel, which occurred here in 1719. Though not widely known, it was a significant event in Highland history.
  • Eilean Donan Castle - Our next stop is the world-famous Eilean Donan Castle, one of Scotland’s most photographed castles. Situated on a small island where Loch Alsh, Loch Duich, and Loch Long converge, you can cross the bridge to the castle and explore its interior if you wish. There are two different admission fees: one for crossing the bridge and another for accessing the castle’s interior. After spending about an hour here, we’ll head to the Isle of Skye.

  • Sligachan Old Bridge - We’ll pause at Sligachan Old Bridge to admire the stunning views of the Red and Black Cuillin hills and the impressive Mackenzie Collie Bronze statue. This river is also said to grant eternal youth! ;-)
  • Dunvegan Castle & Gardens - Visit this incredible castle, the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland, home to the Clan MacLeod for 830 years. Walking through its doors, you’ll be transported back through 800 years of history. The gardens are also a lovely stroll, and if we’re lucky, we might see seals in the loch. The Best Tour! - I would highly recommend this tour to the Isle of Skye! Ryan is a fantastic tour guide. He is very knowledgeable about the history, friendly and easy to talk to. He went above and beyond to make sure my family and I saw everything we wanted to. His driving was great on those narrow and twisty roads!

Excellent tour - highly recommend :) - Gavin was an excellent tour guide and was so accommodating in allowing us time to hike the Old Man of Storr. Ryan was also very responsive and helpful in planning this tour. We highly recommend doing a private tour through Isle of Skye to skip crowds and move at your own pace :) thank you, Gavin!

Gavin was a wonderful tour guide in Scotland Highlands. - Gavin took us to Isle of Skye and made the trip so worth it. A beautiful country and he explained everything so well. The history of Scotland Highlands should be told to everyone. He was very friendly and funny as well. We had a blast with him. I learned about his country and he asked my country, which I believe he found very interesting.

THE BEST TOUR EVER! I 100% RECOMMEND IT! - Ryan made our trip exceptional, one we will remember forever. He is highly knowledgeable and has many fascinating historical stories and facts to tell you along the way. Ryan perfectly planned the tour; we hardly felt like we were in the van, although we wouldn't mind either way as it was such a comfortable, luxury vehicle filled with snacks and beverages. Ryan knew all the ins and outs of the Highlands and made sure we saw the most breathtaking scenic views, and he gave us plenty of time to enjoy them. Throughout the tour, he would also photograph and capture short clips of us, creating the most epic video we will have to look back on forever! On a more personal note, Ryan is such a welcoming, down-to-earth, funny and enthusiastic individual - I was even sad to say goodbye at the end of the day. Thank you, Ryan, for making our trip so memorable and being such an amazing person. I will most certainly be back again :)

Superlative Highlands Tour Guide - If you want to take a personalized tour of the Highlands, you can’t do better than Sgurr Tours. The proprietor, Ryan Mackenzie-Raymond, is a native Highlander who can customize your trip to match your interests, regardless of whether you want to see all the standard sights or go completely off the beaten track. He is deeply knowledgeable, highly entertaining, and committed to his passengers’ comfort. I cannot recommend Ryan and Sgurr Tours highly enough.

Absolutely terrible tour! - My family was so excited for our tour on the Isle of Skye. We booked with Ryan, who communicated well leading up to the tour. However once we actually got on the tour, it wasn’t anything like it was promoted to be. The entire time Ryan complained about past guests, complained about not being tipped, flirted with every woman he came in touch with, and talked about himself the entire tour. Worse still, he was completely unprofessional (and overtly sexual with the women in our party). And his driving was absolutely awful. Though his proposed itinerary is being able to stop and see so much in Skye, we barely saw anything at all. I would certainly never recommend him to anyone. There are other private tours and I would strongly suggest looking at one of those.
