Highlights
  • The Venerable Thich Quang Duc Monument - On June 11, 1963, Thich Quang Duc traveled from the war-ravaged city of Huế to Saigon in an Austin Westminster. He exited the light blue car at a busy intersection, sat in the lotus position, and had a colleague pour gasoline over him from a five-gallon container. Surrounded by protesters, he set himself on fire. In his final note, he wrote: “I respectfully plead to President Ngo Dinh Diem to take a mind of compassion towards the people of the nation and implement religious equality to maintain the strength of the homeland eternally.” In 2010, a memorial depicting the monk engulfed in flames was erected at the very spot where he died fifty years earlier. Before the statue, which stands in front of a bas-relief illustrating the event, American journalist Malcolm Browne’s photographs were the most prominent reminders of the incident. - Nguyen Thien Thuat Apartment Buildings - Experience Ho Chi Minh City’s street food scene on this half-day tasting tour, focusing on local favorites often missed by other culinary tours. We will pick you up by motorbike at your accommodation, then walk, eat, and delve into Saigon’s vibrant life amidst its chaotic traffic. The menu may vary depending on the day, time, and availability of local food stalls. Let’s try the 13 - 16 must-eat dishes to immerse yourself in the local culture hidden in the back alleys: Taste 1: Banh Xeo - Vietnamese savory crispy pancake: a crispy pancake bursting with flavors from herbs and sauce. Sit back and watch your sizzling cake being prepared before your eyes. Taste 2: Chuoi Nep Nuong - a slightly sweet and salty grilled banana with sticky rice and coconut milk. Taste 3: Bun Bo Hue - famous spicy noodle soup with beef. Taste 4: Ngheu Hap Sa - steamed clams with lemongrass. Taste 5: So Diep Nuong Mo Hanh - grilled scallops with onion oil. - Ho Thi Ky Flower Market - We head to the charming Ho Thi Ky flower market, which transforms into a bustling street food market at night, offering everything from hot freshly cooked dishes to sweet desserts and more,” the couple shared. The menu may vary depending on the day, time, and availability of local food stalls. Let’s try the 13 - 16 must-eat dishes to immerse yourself in the local culture hidden in the back alleys: Taste 6: Oc Buu Nuong Tieu - grilled apple snails with pepper. Taste 7: Banh Trang Nuong - Vietnamese pizza. Taste 8: Bo Nuong Sa - grilled beef with lemongrass. Taste 9: Bo Nuong La Lot - grilled beef with betel leaf, a popular appetizer at Vietnamese parties. Taste 13: Saigon Beer: enjoy a Saigon beer on the terrace of a local restaurant. - Ngô Gia Tự - Banh xeo, also known as Vietnamese sizzling pancakes, is a traditional dish that is affordable for everyone. It is becoming increasingly popular in Vietnamese cuisine and is a must-try for visitors. Although banh xeo can vary in shape and size depending on its origin, it generally achieves a perfect balance between yin and yang in its preparation and consumption. We will guide you through its history and everything you need to know about this flavorful street food. One of the well-known places that attract locals is the Ngo Gia Tu Apartment. This area is a street food paradise where we will have the chance to taste Banh Mi and Pancake, two of the most famous Vietnamese dishes. - Saigon River - The Thu Thiem 2 cable-stayed bridge is a new landmark in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, showcasing Finnish bridge engineering at its finest. This impressive cable-stayed bridge spans the Saigon River, which flows through the city. The bridge’s backward-sloping and curved pylon is a distinctive feature, making it a unique landmark in Ho Chi Minh City. Despite its unusual shape, the bridge’s structural design is optimal. The 200-meter main span of the asymmetric cable-stayed bridge is a lightweight composite structure of steel and concrete, while the 115-meter back span is made of concrete. This design balances the structure, eliminating bending stresses in the pylon due to permanent loads. The structure has also been optimized with the positioning of the angled cables in the back span. From the other side of Saigon Central, you will have the opportunity to see a different part of Saigon and capture a series of stunning photos.

Unforgettable adventure! - Our Authentic Saigon Alley Street Food Tour with guides Hao and Thong was nothing short of spectacular. Both guides were incredibly friendly and demonstrated safe motorbike driving, which put us at ease right away. This tour was much more than just sampling food. Hao and Thong ensured we experienced the vibrant essence of Saigon by taking us through various hidden gems of the city that we wouldn't have found on our own. The route was very efficient, allowing us to see and taste a lot in a short time. They were always considerate of our preferences, adjusting the food selections to suit our tastes perfectly. The variety of food was impressive, and the portions were so generous that we were almost overwhelmed. Note to future travelers: consider skipping lunch before the tour! Overall, we were extremely satisfied with this tour and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore Saigon in an authentic and delicious way. We will definitely book this tour again on our next visit.

My first experience in Ho Chi Minh City - Our guide, Hana, was amazing. They brought us to these small, hole-in-the-wall places that I would never have discovered on my own. We tried so many various items, some of which were familiar, such as Bun Bo Hue, while others were absolutely new! There was this fantastic sweet soup with chewy tiny tapioca pearls, as well as these very tasty grilled scallops. And if you want to be more relaxed, go at night.
