Highlights
  • Husavik Adventures - Get your warm clothes and get ready for a real adventure!

The tour begins with a sail to the beautiful Skjálfandi Bay. There are many whale species that are known to be accommodated in the area. For example, the Humpback whale, the Minke whale, White-beaked dolphins, porpoises… More than 10 different species visit Skjálfandi every year!

The speedy RIB boats make it more likely to have a close encounter with the giants, being able to drive huge amounts of miles in the trip. Also, with only 12 passengers or fewer on board, the competition for the best view on board is certainly eliminated.

Among the places, we will visit Lundey (Puffin Island)*, known for its great amount of the popular bird. Passengers will also see the Tjörnes peninsula, known for its fossil layers with the most ancient one being two million years old!

An expert whale-watching guide, a captain on board, a warm water-resistant overall suit, and a life vest are included in this trip. Bring your hat and gloves with you – the bay can be pretty cold!

So, when are you joining us?

*Puffin season is ca. 15th of April-20th August. Outside that time of the year, our tours are Big Whales exclusive!

WOW! 5* EXPERIENCE! DO NOT MISS OUT! - I cannot say enough good things about this experience! We had a tour booked for whale watching at 9 AM. Right from the very start the team and staff were very informative and easy to work with. We were suited up in all of the necessary equipment and gear in a matter of minutes, given a brief overview of how the tour would go, and we were on our way. We were out on the water in no time and were first shown a huge crowd of puffins on a near by island. This was only overshadowed by the whale spottings that we later saw. Our tour guys were so emphatic and shared in our excited as we got to see many whales (including a blue whale!). The guides were full of knowledge and you could tell they really cared to ensure we all were able to get close to the whales and experience it to the fullest. This entire experience was our favourite of the entire vacation and trip to Iceland!

Whales, puffins and more - Had an amazing trip on the RIB Speed boats! Austin was our guide. He and the crew were great. It was Austin's 1st day guiding with Husavik Adventures and he didn't disappoint with his knowledge and humor throughout the 2 hour tour. Not only did we see a number of humpbacks feeding but we saw harbor seals, sea birds and thousands of puffins flying above and around Lundey Island. Highly recommend taking this tour.

Amazing whale watch! - Amazing whale watch, got to see humpback whales very close to the boat and also saw blue whales. Knowledgeable guides were able to share about the whales and find the best spots for viewing. Best whale watch I’ve been on!

Whale watching in Husavik. - Amazing experience. Our guide, Alessandra, ways very knowledgeable and friendly. The RIB was comfortable and we had a very experienced captain. We learned a lot about whales and puffins and saw both a blue whale and a humpback on our boat trip. Would definitely recommend this company to anyone visiting Husavik

Highly Recommend! - What an amazing experience! We saw puffins, dolphins, and multiple whales. Having never been whale watching before, we had low expectations that we’d see anything at all. This over-delivered. The guide and our captain were extremely nice, and they had jumpsuits for both of us, including my 6’5” 300-pound former American football player of a husband! They made us feel extremely safe from start to finish and the small size of the boat meant that we were able to get closer to the sea life and have more interaction with our delightful guide. The RIB boat was comfortable and the handles made it feel like you were safe and secure while traveling at higher speeds.

What a thrill! - It was so much fun to get close to these beautiful animals. We were able to see 4 different whales on multiple occasions. The small, fast boat was a nice option to be able to react quickly to the whales' location.

Must do: Highlight of the trip! - Absolute highlight of our holiday in Iceland. The RIB, the puffins, the whales, it was amazing! The RIB is much faster and more agile than the other ships in the bay, so you cover a greater distance and are faster at sightings. We had (relatively) rough seas, so we were called the day before because the skippers would decide on the day itself whether the trip could go ahead. And the tip to wear lots of layers. Very nice communication. On the day itself, in addition to warm overalls, we were given a long orange raincoat because the waves were high. The skipper managed to keep us completely dry, even at high speed, by sailing perfectly into the wind! The biologist/guide told us many new things about the area, the puffins and the whales. We thought the rough sea wasn't too bad (the North Sea is always rough) and we loved jumping off the RIB. Normal is quieter.
