Hongcun Ancient Village - Hongcun, the shooting spot of a number of films such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, is located at the foot of Mt. Huangshan. Renowned for its preserve of non-urban settlements that reflect the architecture style in Chinese Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), Hongcun was listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Hongcun Ancient Village has about 140 original Ming and Qing style residences. Identifiable with pink walls and black tiles. Stroll around the village with your tour guide, admire the Chengzhi Hall which is praised as the ‘Folk Imperial Palace’. Numerous carvings decorate the columns, beams and door frames and are gilded.
