Highlights
  • Hurghada - Depart from your Hurghada accommodation at the crack of dawn in a climate-controlled vehicle, embarking on a trip to Egypt’s capital, Cairo. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by your personal Egyptologist who will lead you on a tour of the city’s most iconic sites. Begin at the Giza Plateau to witness the majestic Giza Pyramids. Stand in awe of these three colossal funeral structures, erected circa 2500 BC, which stand as one of the few remaining Wonders of the Ancient World. Take in the sight of the largest pyramid, the Great Pyramid, a structural marvel composed of 2.3 million blocks of stone, speculated to have been constructed over a 20-year period. Encounter the Sphinx, the enigmatic figure with the body of a lion and the head of a human, standing sentinel over the pyramids. If desired, you have the option to enter (at an additional charge) one of the pyramids to explore its inner sanctums — note that your guide will not join you inside. You might also choose to visit the Solar Boat Museum (at an additional charge), which houses the extraordinary ceremonial boat of Pharaoh Khufu, for whom the Great Pyramid was erected. Admire the boat, crafted from cedar wood, which was believed to have carried Khufu’s remains to this resting place, and discover the story of its unearthing and restoration. Following this, take a break for lunch before proceeding to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, which boasts a staggering array of over 120,000 items from antiquity. Peruse some of the museum’s most impressive exhibits, including the essential Tutankhamun collection. Be dazzled by the young pharaoh’s golden mask, sarcophagi, and burial treasures, while delving into the tales of his brief rule and the enigmas surrounding his demise. Later, make your way to the Khan el-Khalili bazaar, the city’s primary marketplace. Immerse yourself in the vibrant walkways and engage in bargaining for keepsakes from the array of stalls offering baubles, precious metals, aromatic spices, and various wares. Consider stopping by a papyrus institute to observe the creation of these ancient artworks and, if inclined, buy some papyrus paintings as keepsakes. To conclude, you’ll be transported back to Hurghada, culminating your day with a return to your hotel.

Great trip to Cairo from Hurghada - We had booked a private trip from Hurghada to Cairo. We were a group of 10, so it was a mini bus just for us. The trip was a long one, but totally worth it. We left Hurghada at 3 am and got back to 10pm. In Ciaro we had a very informative female guide. She was a smart person, with a lot of knowledge about Egyptian traditions and history. She was not pushy at all and it seemed that genuinely wanted us to have a good time. We had several stops and for each of them she asked us if we want to go there or not and she was flexible about the schedule as well. Besides the pyramids, we did a stop at the Cairo Museum, a Nile cruise, a perfume shop and a papyrus place. All of the above were very interesting and helped us have a broader understanding of the Egyptian culture. A long trip, but worth it.
