Slowing down on the Nile - One week Nile cruise - one week hotel stay in Somabay.
What greater contrast could there be:
Truthfulness versus artificial tourist oases.
The slow-paced way of traveling on the Nile is balm for the mind and soul.
What didn't we experience and learn? Thanks to our lovely tour guide Mina. A clever (he studied Egyptology), articulate (he speaks perfect German, among other things) and warm person. Thanks to him, our small group came together. What didn't he have to tell us... not just facts about temples and cities, we learned a lot about life and the way of thinking in Egypt, about religions and we were able to have interesting conversations. Mina was always friendly and in a good mood and looked after everyone.
In just a few days, we saw a lot, learned a lot, got around in many different vehicles and ate delicious food.
It's impossible to describe how it feels to stand in a 3500-year-old temple and let time take its toll on you. Thinking about who we are and why we take ourselves so seriously.
