Highlights
  • Charlie Taylor Water Wheel at Bridal Veil Falls - Originally a part of Tayler’s series of five stamp mills, the waterwheel was moved as a community project to its present location in 1948. Since then, it has served as an important visual landmark for Idaho Springs residents and for those traveling through the area. In 1988, volunteers donated an estimated 3,800 hours of labor to the rehabilitation/restoration of what is considered to be a valuable community resource.
  • Argo Mill and Tunnel - Soon after 1859, when Colorado’s first gold was struck in Idaho Springs, CO, the Argo and surrounding area became an international center of milling and tunneling innovation and served for many gold mines in Colorado. Partnerships between local entrepreneurs, highly skilled professionals, and international business leaders enabled projects of previously unforeseen scale, ambition, and productivity to be realized. The Mighty Argo has rekindled this spirit and will resume its role as a hub of activity and an engine of economic productivity for the region and beyond.

The Argo Mill and Tunnel is a wonder of ingenuity, technology, and entrepreneurial spirit. Begun in 1893, the 4.2-mile-long Argo Tunnel cuts an ingenious path through the hills, draining and servicing hundreds of miles of workings, thereby prolonging the productivity of the famous gold mines in Colorado for decades. Many of the gold mines in Colorado would have become inoperable if not for the Mighty Argo.

Amazing whitewater rafting in the mountains without a 4 hour Denver by a professional & fun rafting company - Booked the Middle Clear Creek beginner/novice family trip for 1:00PM today. Website easy to navigate . The process was simple online. Easy to have the waivers completed online. Great communication. I called this morning to verify some information & guy that answered was professional & polite. The pre-rafting safety talk was efficient, easy to understand & the humor was appreciated. Suiting up was comfortable & the wetsuits worked well. Our raft guide was Eric. He has this real calm demeanor about him and it really worked in the boat. Gave our boat a great vibe. Our 11 year old girl & her 12 year old friend listened well to his commands and were comfortable. This is my 6th or 7th Colorado rafting trip & my first in Idaho Springs. I’ll bring out of state guests here for now on with this company. By far the best experience all around. Friendly, efficient, professional with an element of humor. Bus driver on the way back was safe and smiled. Our guide was helpful and pointed all all the features of the river and the rapids. If you are looking for some adventure and don’t want to drive 3-4 hours then Rocky Mountain Whitewater Rafting Company In Idaho Springs is your best bet. I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure with our little family. First time rafting experience for our girl and she laughed and said she’d love to do it again! Thanks for the whole company and Eric for making this happen. Check in and out was efficient and easy. We had our photos by the time we reached the car to head home. I’d give them 10 stars if I could!

Rafting with Danny at RMWR - Had a super fun trip at RMWR with Danny as our guide. My family couldn’t have had a better time. It was our first time whitewater rafting, so Danny gave us great coaching and prepped us for the beginner’s route. We can’t wait to come back for the intermediate route!

Beginner Fun with David - David was a great guide! He spun us around in the ‘Dizzy Lizzie’ rapid, and we stopped for a swim. Fun and professional, very attentive from beginning to end of trip. I like this smaller but very professional company. Ask for David!!
