Cultural Masterclass with brothers at Pacific Art Udaipur - Pacific Art takes you back in time and immerses you in the rich, highly-detailed painting tradition of India. Brothers Naresh and Jeetu are highly knowledgeable ambassadors able to explain the history and technique of this art style. I stumbled upon this shop late at night the first time and they very patiently entertained dozens of questions from me as I looked around the shop and asked them about paintings that stood out to me. At the end of the night, I actually handed Jeetu an iPad and he drew an elephant on there with an Apple Pencil showcasing his command of the style despite the different medium. Their friendliness encouraged me to come back and take a painting class to experience firsthand how to paint in this style. The class was taught in the daytime, seated on a drawing board and involved outlining a peacock and using very thin tipped brushes to color it in. Though there was not a lot of individuality in learning this first drawing (mostly following instructions and coloring with the colors as directed), it did provide insight into how difficult these paintings are to create and the subtleties in the detailing of each of the master works. I also bought a number of paintings from them to take home and which were loved by the friends and family. Over my few days in Udaipur, I regularly came by the shop given their kindness and they even shared their lunch with me on a few occasions while regaling me in their family's history in art. Though the shop's purpose is to teach drawing and sell paintings, I felt I got to integrate with their community through my visits to their gallery, seeing how they worked, and sharing experiences and I would recommend everyone pay them a visit to get a taste of traditional Indian painting!

Udaipur highlight - My friend and I were walking through Udaipur and ran into one of the brothers by the lake. We chatted for a bit, him telling us about their nearby store. We were able to sit down and watch them paint, learning about where the paint comes from and the technique required. We never felt any pressure to buy though we did walk away very happy with 2 pieces.

Miniature painting session in Udaipur - We discovered the incredible work of Naresh and Jeetu on a street corner in Udaipur. I was able to take a class with Jeetu and better understand the beauty and complexity of their art. Get out of the tourist streets to meet them and admire their paintings, you will not be disappointed! Thanks again !

Great miniature painting class in Udaipur - Great painting class with Jeetu!! He really spent a lot of time helping us, advising us on paints, colors, techniques, etc. But above all, we were able to ask him a lot of questions about India, Hinduism, and we learned a lot from him, it was super enriching! We really loved it, a must do, Jeetu is an exceptional person, and her miniatures are truly magnificent

An ideal miniature painting course for beginners - We spent over two hours practicing miniature painting. The teaching is very well done. We drew a peacock and left with our “artwork”. If you want it to be a French guide, you must make sure that it is present. We had requested the course in French but he seemed to be ill. I recommend this workshop.
