Highlights
 • Casa Museo Isla Negra - Declared a National Monument in 1990, the House of Isla Negra is one of the three residences that the Chilean writer and poet Pablo Neruda owned in his homeland. Situated in Isla Negra, within the municipality of El Quisco, province of San Antonio, Valparaíso Region (approximately 113 kilometers from Santiago).

The Casa Museo is overseen by the Neruda Foundation and features a souvenir shop and items related to the poet. It also includes a Cultural Center that hosts exhibitions, lectures, poetry recitals, and a Café Restaurant.

 • La Sebastiana - Located in Valparaíso, on Cerro Bellavista, it is notable for its beautiful architecture and stunning view of the harbor bay.

The poet sought a house in Valparaíso “that seemed to float in the air, yet was firmly grounded.” Neruda fell in love with it because it met his desired conditions of privacy and accessibility.

 • Casa Museo La Chascona - Situated in the Barrio Bellavista on the slopes of Cerro San Cristóbal in the municipality of Providencia in Santiago de Chile. It is now a museum that houses the author’s collections and serves as the headquarters of the Pablo Neruda Foundation. It was declared a National Monument in 1990.

The house’s name honors Matilde, his lover at the time, whom the poet nicknamed for her abundant reddish hair.

Today, La Chascona is a museum showcasing various collections that Neruda amassed, including books, figureheads, shells, and bottles from around the globe.

Neruda Heaven!!!! - If you are a fan of Pablo Neruda, do not miss this tour! We saw a lot of Santiago as we drove to all three of Neruda's homes -- starting two hours south at Isla Negra on the ocean and then about 45 minutes to Valparaiso and La Sebastiana, then to lunch at Castillo del Mar with its fabulous seafood and views in nearby Vina del Mar, and lastly, my favourite, Las Chascona (which means "disheveled", as was the beautiful hair of Neruda's third wife) in the Providencia section of Santiago. The day was fabulous! Our guide, Marcello, and driver, Mauricio, could not have been better. Marcello is knowledgeable and funny, and he has a fascination with American pop culture. Besides loads of information, he kept us totally entertained during the long rides. Mauricio's expert driving made us feel totally safe. Our pick-up was at 8:00 a.m. - totally on time!-- and we returned to the hotel at 6:30. Quite a wonderful day!

If you're a fan of Pablo Neruda... -
If you're a fan of Pablo Neruda, this is the ultimate excursion! We visited all three of his homes, with plenty of time at each of them. At each house, we got an individual listening device that lead us along with interesting narrative. He was such a unique and interesting person! And he collected all sorts of things that we got to see. I loved being in his homes and seeing his desks and pens and bars and shell collection and... But you get the picture. We also got to see a lot of the beautiful Chilean countryside, and had lunch in Vina del Mar at a wonderful restaurant expensive, but worth it! overlooking the ocean. Our guide, Marcello, and driver, Mauricio who looks a bit like Neruda himself! were both fantastic! It was a long and wonderful day!
