Highlights
- Karakoy Iskelesi - Your tour guide will meet you at your hotel reception at 09.00 am. If you would like to start later in the day, please email us what time suits you the best. Firstly, we walk or catch a tram to Karakoy, where we have our Turkish breakfast, which includes Turkish menemen, sucuklu omlet, kaymak, and honey.
- Istiklal Caddesi - Following breakfast, we will catch a metro up to Pera and walk along the famous Istiklal street and give a break for a cup of tea and coffee.
- Kadikoy Carsisi - Walking down Istiklal Street will take us to Karakoy ferry station, where we will catch a ferry from the European side of Istanbul to the Asian side to Kadikoy (Kalkedon ancient name that means the city of the blind), where you can taste authentic Turkish dishes or Mersin’s tantuni or if you are feeling adventurous maybe have a liver wrap. We will continue to the fish market, where you can sample stuffed or fried mussels and pickles. Turkish people love their pickles, and some shops only sell pickles.
- Misir Carsisi (Spice Market) - So after indulging, we will then catch a ferry back to the European side of Istanbul and visit the Spice Market. Where you will have a chance to see where locals have been buying their spices for hundreds of years.

• You will have a chance to experience local culture while visiting some local markets, bazaars, and backstreets.

Hassle free personalized food tour in Istanbul. - I just had to share about our incredible time exploring Istanbul with Furkan. He was our third tour guide in Istanbul, and we really wished we had found him sooner. Unlike the other tour guides, Furkan never rushed us or took us to shops. From the moment he greeted us at our hotel to the end of the tour, we had a blast and tried so many delicious local dishes at hidden gems we wouldn’t have found on our own. My teenagers loved the fish sandwich and kebab restaurant, while I couldn’t get enough of the breakfast and Turkish coffee. Furkan knows all the best spots; everybody greets him with a big smile. Get ready for lots of walking, laughter, and eating. We were so full by the end that we didn’t even need dinner that night. It was the perfect way to wrap up our time in Istanbul. Furkan offers all kind of tours in Istanbul and Turkey, and next time we’ll definitely book all our tours with him.

Awesome food and walking tour in Istanbul. - We had a bit of a difficult start to our food tour due to the bed weather. Despite the rain, Furkan’s friendly and welcoming nature made all the difference. Our trip to Karakoy by tram ended with a lovely breakfast, and luckily, the weather improved afterwards. It almost seemed like Furkan’s charm had influenced the weather too. Exploring the cafes, street food vendors and shops he recommended was an amazing way to experience Istanbul. We learned a lot about breakfast and Turkish coffee culture, and got to enjoy treats like baklava, kokorec, stuffed mussels, and a refreshing feezy shot. We highly recommend him and Private Istanbul Walking Tours to anyone planning to visit Istanbul.

A truly unique and unforgettable experience in Istanbul. - My 18 year old daughter and I had an amazing food tour of Istanbul with Furkan. He was an entertaining and informative guide who took us to fantastic food outlets. Even though I had been to Istanbul before, it still felt like a fresh introduction for me. We learned a lot about the significance of tea, coffee and food in Turkish culture. The kebab was not just impressive, it was a delight that we savored so much that we barely ate dinner that night. Furkan's in depth knowledge of Istanbul and its culture made it the perfect way to start our trip. I highly recommend this tour and suggest you ask for Furkan as your guide.

Wonderful experience with our guide Furkan! Would definitely recommend! - We absolutely loved this tour! We did the private tour .Our guide Furkan was so knowledgeable and took us to incredible venues. We tasted many things we had never had before and thoroughly enjoyed the neighborhoods he walked us through. He took us at our own pace and we enjoyed food on both continents. The best tour guide ever. - Have you ever been on a food tour that left you speechless? Well, my husband and I have! Our Istanbul food tour with Furkan was nothing short of amazing. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up booking a second tour with him to explore the old city and the grand bazaar of Istanbul. Furkan was not only an excellent tour guide but also a great company. Best guide and most delicious food tour ever!! 10⭐️😛 - We loved our day with Derya! She introduced us to so many delightful tastes of Istanbul. Starting with a spectacular Turkish breakfast in a tiny shop full of character, then proceeding through many charming neighborhoods, where we sampled, fresh baklava, Turkish coffee, a fish wrap made with loving attention to the spice market, then a ferry to the Asian side, where the feasting continued. She has a wonderful personality, and all the places we went or her personal favorites and we felt so welcomed. Thanks to her, we fell in love with Istanbul.

Food and culture in Istanbul - Sude was an outstanding guide. She was very knowledgeable about both the food culture and history of Istanbul.
