Highlights
  • Corinth Canal - The Corinth Canal connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometres (4 mi) in length and only 21.4 metres (70 ft) wide at its base, making it impassable for many modern ships.
From high up, you can enjoy the best view of Corinth’s isthmus and admire the steep limestone walls while you observe the vessels below you navigate their way through the canal.

Ancient Olympia - where it all began - Ancient Olympia is a testament to the intelligence and tenacity of human beings. It’s beautifully preserved and every stone tells a story. The museums are not to be missed either. Our guide Fotis guided us expertly with very interesting stories and facts. He did not overwhelm us with too much information.

Day trip to Ancient Olympia - Michael picked us up promptly for our full day tour to Ancient Olympia. It was a long drive from Athens, but the car was modern, clean, comfortable and air-conditioned. Michael was very friendly and has a wealth of knowledge regarding historical sites and Greek mythology, including a passion for archeological history. We stopped at Corinth Canal on the way to Olympia, for a quick rest break and photo opportunity. Ancient Olympia itself is fascinating and we saw everything we wanted in the allotted time. Also had time for a lunch at the Ambrosia Restaurant, which was a great recommendation by Michael. We thoroughly enjoyed the day and would highly recommend My Athens Transfers. Thank you!

best trip ever - We had a wonderful experience and we look forward to repeating it as soon as possible. The team was amazing, they took care of everything. A holiday could only be this good. We had a dreamlike day. They fell short of the required punctuality in the organization.

Could have been better - Quite frankly we could have saved a lot of money by renting a car and driving ourselves. Our driver was a very nice young man but he added nothing additional to the trip save driving. While we did not expect a guided tour from him some perspective on the site would have been nice considering he was raised in Olympia! My impression he was not comfortable with his English skills and new to the job.
