Michinoeki Namie - This roadside station symbolizes the town’s revitalization. It supports daily life by offering shopping, dining, and resting facilities. Visitors can enjoy a variety of vegetables, seafood, and local cuisine.

Namie-machi - Namie Town-run Ohirayama Cemetery
This communal cemetery is situated on high ground about 2 kilometers from the coast. The view of the Ukedo district and the Pacific Ocean illustrates the vast impact of the tsunami. Initially an expanse of fields where Ukedo Elementary School children were evacuated immediately after the earthquake, the cemetery was later built to house the graves of disaster victims, fulfilling local residents’ wishes. Alongside a memorial monument, the cemetery serves as a requiem for the victims and a warning to future generations, preserving the memory of the disaster. -
Ruins of Namie Machiritsu Ukedo Elementary School - Located about 200 meters from the coast, Ukedo Elementary School was partially destroyed by the tsunami. However, no lives were lost due to quick evacuation. The school remains preserved as it was during the disaster to highlight the threat and lessons learned, ensuring future generations remember and understand the event. The first-floor classrooms and gymnasium, severely damaged by the tsunami, remain almost unchanged, allowing visitors to observe the conditions. The second floor features panels detailing the damage and evacuation following the nuclear accident, along with preserved blackboards displaying messages of support from visitors.

Futaba-machi - JR Futaba Station area:
The town’s former Special Zones for Reconstruction and Revitalization, part of the Difficult-to-Return Zone, are centered around JR Futaba Station. Even after the evacuation order is lifted, buildings from the earthquake’s immediate aftermath remain untouched, while hopeful murals in the area convey a sense of optimism. -

On March 11 th 2011, the magnitude-9.0 earthquake occurred in Japan’s Tohoku region. Many people in Fukushima lost their lives to this earthquake and the subsequent large tsunami, and scores of homes were destroyed. In addition, the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Disaster resulted in leaving many people with no choice but to evacuate their homes. The effects of these multiple disasters remain to this day.
This tour offers you the opportunity to see the places where the effects of the earthquake and nuclear disaster remain, as well as the places where revitalization efforts are taking place. All tour sales go to donations for the affected areas.
