Highlights
  • Adventure Tours Costa Rica - The tour begins in the mountains directly behind Jacó, and continues roughly half the distance to the peak of the mountain to a beautiful 35ft. waterfall (Cascada del Zorro) – a perfect spot to get a little wet and take some photos.

After the brief stop, we continue up through primary rainforest and above the canopy to the top of the mountain range. Just beyond the crest of the mountain lies a beautiful mirador offering views of the ocean playing against sands as far south as Manuel Antonio, as far west as the Nicoya Peninsula, and as far north as the port city of Puntarenas.

  • Quebrada Amarilla - We enjoy a cool drink with the view, and then continue along the ridgeline of the mountains that offer more incredible views of this pristine area. This primary rainforest leads the way towards the mountains that surround Playa Hermosa.

After stopping off at one more epic viewpoint, we descend the mountains of La Gloria toward the Tulin River to our river-side lunch spot in the small rural town of Mata de Platano.

Once fed, we start a new climb through the similarly small and remote villages of Montelimar, Angostura, Pavona and San Gabriel before passing through Las Delicias (population: 39) famous for its ATV and motocross rallies.

  • Catarata Bijagual - Though it’s impossible to describe every little pueblo we pass on the tour, suffice it to say that each has its own unique charm, and the locals always greet us with a wave and a smile.

Once arriving in Bijagual - the last mountain pueblo we pass - we begin our final descent to a beach-side bar where we gather refreshments for the end of our beach run. A quick 2 kilometer run alongside the Pacific Ocean brings us to a view of the sun making its way for the Nicoya Peninsula on the other side of the Gulf, and chance to have a drink before heading back to Headquarters.

The Best! - Unfortunately unable to take pictures while riding but provided amazing scenery and wildlife. Tour guides match riding skills with speed! 100% best thing we did in Costa Rica.

Best excursion ever!! - My daughter and I had the best time on this seven hour excursion. Our guide Chris took us to places that no tourist would ever know about. He was kind, patient, helpful and fun to hang out with all day. We stopped at a place that made chocolate, and swam at a beautiful waterfall which was so refreshing after riding for a while. We stopped at a local bar and restaurant in the middle of the mountains to eat some amazing typical food and have a break. We saw sloths, monkeys, iguanas and lots of dogs along the way. It was definitely a day to remember and our most favorite excursion in CR. I would recommend that you be in somewhat descent shape and have a good amount of knowledge of riding quads for this long day. You will get absolutely filthy so wear clothes and shoes you don’t care about. Bring a towel and your bathing suits and water. Lastly, make sure to bring money for tips along the way. The locals up in the mountains and your guide would no doubt appreciate it. They were all so friendly and welcoming. This excursion is pricey, but worth every penny. The scenery is worth every dime. The only downside is I wish we had headsets to talk to our guide while we were riding. I had so many questions of what things were along the way.

Costa Rica ATV experience - This was awesome! We had a group of 9 including a 10, 11, 14 and 75 year old without any medical conditions. The 6 hour tour with beautiful views, white face monkeys, toucans, macaws, lunch, warefall! We did get rained on but was refreshing while riding and more fun thru mud puddles. Our guides Naro and Chris where awesome, knowledgeable, caring. They definitely made the experience worth while.

I recommend - This was an amazing trip for me, my husband and our 11 year old daughter. It was a long physical ride but so worth it. We loved riding through the villages and seeing all of the friendly people. We stopped at two different restaurants with amazing views and delicious food. On our trip we saw Toucans, Iguanas, sloths and monkeys. Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable of the area.

Fantastic Day - What a great day out on an ATV. The company were very easy to deal with and the guide was simply the best. Pick up and drop off was not a hassle and typified the care for their customers. There were regular drinks, food toilet stops along the way which were most appreciated.

February King's Tour - Our guide George was amazing. Super friendly and took us to a cool waterfall where you could jump in to cool off after riding. Our snack stop on the way to the waterfall was a neat stop where we met the owner who had a lovely parrot and who had made his living there for 47 years. Lunch after the waterfall was great and authentic. Some things to note - while it talks about riding in the jungle, just note that the majority of the riding occurs on the dirt roads that are the same roads the cars use as well. There is some riding through what feels more like jungle trails but the majority of riding is on the dirt roads. This part of the description is somewhat misleading and is not completely accurate: "Then, continue toward the Tulin River for a waterfront lunch in a rural town. Climb through a number of small villages, and then descend to the beach where you can ride along the coast at sunset and enjoy refreshments at a beachside bar. " We did have a lovely lunch in a rural town, but it was not waterfront. One reason we chose this tour over the others was because it mentioned riding on the beach. Early in the ride I asked if we would be going to the beach, and we were told we would not. So, if you are choosing this tour because you are also wanting to ride on the beach, just note, a ride on the beach is not included as part of this trip nor is going to a beachside bar. We did not go close to the beach when we rode.
