The Badal Palace near the Amar Sagar Gate has a cloud-like appearance and has the Tazia Tower emerging from it. This tower is entirely different from the usual Rajputana architecture of Rajasthan. These were homes to the royal families of Rajasthan built by the Muslim Craftsmen who gave it a shape of Tazia as a symbol of their religion.

Maharawal Beri Sal commissioned the construction of this Haveli. The architects of this haveli were Hathi and Lulu who happened to be brothers. There is a very interesting story regarding its construction. It is said that the two brothers started building different facets of haveli simultaneously. In those days there were no such instruments, which could keep a track on continuity and thus when this building came up finally it had irregular shape.

This mansion is famous for its distinctive architecture as it is constitutes 38 gracefully carved balconies. The architecture of this mansion is inspired by dancing peacock. One of the most ambitious constructions of its times, the Haveli is so magnificent, that it even invited the ruler’s envy during its era.

  • Jaisalmer Fort - Jaisalmer Fort is situated in the city of Jaisalmer, in the Indian state of Rajasthan. For the better part of its 800-year history, the fort was the city of Jaisalmer.

  • Surya Gate - The Surya Gate is one of the four entry gates to the 12th century, Jaisalmer Fort. The fort on the Trikuta hill has four successive gates Akai, Surya, Ganesh and Hawa through which the visitors need to pass through. A vital feature of the gate is that it is constructed on a bend, the reason behind building barriers in such a manner is said to stem from military strategies. As elephants were war horses in the ancient era, it took mighty power to break down walls, but with gates situated on a curve, it takes a greater ability to break through.

A great experience - A very well arranged tour by Mystic Jaisalmer. The tuk tuk ride with Moosa ji was incredible. Mr. Moosa was so professional, he picked me up from my hotel on time and was very courteous. Also, he ensured that all the covid regulations were being followed. Along with the host from Mystic Jaisalmer, Mr. Ashraf Ali, Moosa ji customised his set tour of the city to my liking - they understood exactly what I was interested in. What i really appreciated was that while Moosa ji is very informative, he does not unnecessarily talk too much... :) I would most certainly recommend everyone to do this tour. My journey would have been incomplete, had I not decided to do this tour.
