The best forest bathing experience - I just wanted to add another review even though my companion on the trip has already commented! Chris is the most amazing guy and nothing is too much trouble. He makes the experience a very personal one and I felt totally safe even walking over rocks . He has all the gear so there’s no need to pack your heavy boots and wet weather outfits . Although we didn’t actually see Fuji, it didn’t matter as we had the most wonderful experience with the surroundings including waterfalls and caves and we were even personally introduced to his favourite trees ! On a practical level he gave us the opportunity to stop and buy snacks if we wanted . In our case as it was a wet day we had a delicious hot chocolate drink made by a man with a small market stall . Also if you are worried about the lack of restrooms in the forests, never fear as there are plenty of opportunities to visit them when driving from one destination to another. I wish I was back there now !

Unique and stunning Mt. Fuji tour - Chris was such an amazing tour guide! We got to see so many beautiful sights in the area that were off the beaten path. I definitely felt like it was more of a local experience than a lot of tours I've been on. Chris was really flexible with us and our needs and really personalized everything. Highly recommend this tour!

Wonderful memorable experience! - Chris was a wonderful tour guide who sincerely loves the beauty surrounding Mt. Fuji. He picked us up at our lodging and customized our tour. We spent nearly 6 hours exploring and learning about the forest, lakes, caves, and communities surrounding Mt. Fuji. We also stopped for snacks, a delicious authentic lunch, warm red wine, ice cream, and smoked fish on a stick. There were countless opportunities to relax or take amazing photos. Thank you Chris for providing myself and my 13 year old son with this memorable experience!

Very knowledgeable guide, sensitive and phenomenally well prepared - What can I say, Chris is the consummate guide. He’d thought of everything. Supplied us with comfy boots, great wet weather gear which meant the fact that it was raining just didn’t matter. He is incredibly knowledgeable and his passion for his subject really comes across. We felt totally safe with him even when he pushed us slightly out of our comfort zone. He is very respectful and tailored the trip to our pace and ability. We had such a fun day with him can’t recommend him highly enough. I feel like I’ve made a new friend.

Best day ever -Japan May 15th 2024 - This Mt. Fuji tour was the highlight of our Japan trip. The per person price was higher than we wanted to pay but we took a chance and it was worth every penny! This family of 5 adults would not hesitate to do it again. Chris made sure we had everything from proper footwear to snacks. We hiked and saw so many amazing sites. We ate lunch at a small local establishment and it felt like the tour was made just for us.

He shared insight about the land and culture as we journeyed through forests, shrines, waterfalls and trails. He also provided hiking shoes and a walking stick which made the experience even more enjoyable. He is a very personable and genuine guide. Would highly recommend Chris and this tour!!!

A priceless adventure with Chris and hiddenjapan.org - A casual search on google turned out to be the best thing i could have done on this trip. I found Chris and hiddenjapan! I spent two days with him around the kawaguchiko area. Not only was he generous with his ideas and knowledge about the area in spite of being an American who’s spent more than 20 years here but he was also generous with his time and effort in going out of the way to ensure I had a good experience over the two days i spent here. His ability to tailor the best experience for you coupled with his intricate knowledge of this area, its geography, its history and its people is priceless. He combines this to leave you with a sense of accomplishment and immense fulfilment on your day/s well spent. He came up with these hidden jewels which i do not want to talk about but rather you experience it yourself when you are here and engage him. For me it was two days well spent looking at Mt fuji through various angles and times, going around not only the five lakes but also some interesting shrines and natural scenery. His understanding of the people in the area also ensured he led me to some great culinary delights. Thank you Chris for making my trip invaluable! Just loved it!! If trip advisor had more stars i would have given you all of them!!!

Lovely explanation of mannerisms of Japanese culture - Luckily, We saw amount Fuji in its full glory. Yumi, our guide, arranged everything; she looked after us, as she would her own parents. She had the caps, the overcoats, the socks, hiking shoes (correct size) and mufflers, so that we would not feel cold. Temples - she explained Japanese rituals, customs, respect, to enable a better understanding of Japanese cultures. Understood, respected we were vegetarian, and communicated on our behalf, go get the breakfast we had missed. We wanted to shop, and again she translated to make our life so easy.

Mount Fuji at its best possible - An unforgettable day with Chris Battin. He has lived in the area for more than 20 years. He therefore knows every path, every tree, every forest, every view, every mountain, every valley and also every cafe and loo. And, of course local and national history and culture. A great day. Hugely interesting. Met our needs perfectly. We will never forget our time with Chris. A huge thank you to him.
