Highlights

Explore East Jeju UNESCO Heritage (Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun)

Saryeoni Forest Path - This trail is one of Jeju’s top 31 hidden gems and is highly protected. It’s a favorite among tourists who love hiking and nature.

Seongeup Folk Village - This traditional village on Jeju Island has been preserved as it was in ancient times, with impressive stone piles designed to protect roofs from the wind. The buildings are considered important folk relics because these structures, built to prevent a Japanese invasion, have remained intact since the Joseon Dynasty.

Seopjikoji - Located at the eastern tip of Jeju Island, Seopjikoji offers stunning scenery, especially in April when yellow canola flowers are in full bloom. “Seopji” is the old name for the area, and “Koji” is a Jeju dialect term meaning a sudden bump on land.

Seopjikoji can be replaced with Sangumburi in October and November.

Seongsan Ilchulbong - Also known as ‘Sunrise Peak,’ this UNESCO Heritage site features a Women Diver Show. Formed by hydrovolcanic eruptions about 5,000 years ago, this tuff cone resembles a gigantic ancient castle. It stands 182 meters high and has a well-preserved bowl-like crater with diverse inner structures resulting from the sea cliff.

Jongdal-ri - The tour bus travels along the beautiful northeastern coastline of Jeju, passing Hado Beach and Saehwa Beach on the way to Manjang Cave. Jongdalri Shore Road is known for its hydrangeas in the summer.

Hamdeok Beach - On rainy days, Hamdeok Beach will be replaced by a visit to the Haenyeo Museum.

Manjang Cave [UNESCO World Heritage] is currently closed due to construction to prevent falling hazards. It is scheduled to reopen in August 2025. During this period, it will be replaced by ‘Hamdeok Beach.’

Haenyeo Museum - On rainy days, Jeju Stone Park will be replaced by a visit to the Haenyeo Museum. The museum was built to re-evaluate haenyeo culture in Jeju and to record, preserve, and educate about their significant social, economic, and historical contributions. Exhibits provide information about the local environment, fishing villages, folk culture, and the fisheries industry, with haenyeo culture at the center.

Sangumburi Crater - In autumn, the ridges of Sangumburi Crater turn golden with waves of silvergrass. The planted cedar dominates the eastern and western slopes, with Sawtooth oak in the surrounding area. Korean Fir has also been planted to form a forest path. Excluding these lush forests, colonies of Eulalia grass cover large patches of the crater. The silvergrass colonies create a cherished autumn view. Only available from October to December, replacing Seopjikoji.

Manjanggul Cave - This is the world’s largest known lava tube created by volcanic activity. The landscape inside resembles an underground palace, with the Stone Turtle that looks like Jeju Island being particularly popular. If Manjanggul Lava Tube is closed (the first Wednesday of every month), the Jeju Haenyeo Museum will be the alternative tour course. Manjang Cave [UNESCO World Heritage] is currently closed due to construction to prevent falling hazards. It is scheduled to reopen in August 2025. During this period, it will be replaced by ‘Hamdeok Beach.’

Discover Nature and Culture of Western Jeju (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat)

Hallasan National Park - [Eoseungsaengak] is a small volcano called “Oreum” on Halla Mountain. On rainy days, Hallasan Mountain will be replaced by a visit to Circus World.

O’sulloc Tea Museum - Opened in 2001, the Osulloc Tea Museum on Jeju Island is Korea’s first tea museum. In 2013, Osulloc Tea Stone was built next to the museum, offering various tea experiences and cultural activities.

Sanbangsan Mountain - Rising to 395 meters, Sanbangsan is a typical dome-shaped, craterless volcano. Its name, Sanbang, comes from a natural stone cave in the middle of the mountain. Inside the cave, called Sanbanggulsa Temple, there is a statue of Buddha. According to legend, water drops from the cave ceiling are the tears of love shed by the goddess who protects Sanbangsan’s stone walls.

Yongmeori Coast - This volcanic beach is made of ash from violent explosions when hot magma met cold seawater. The narrow path to the beach also features a sandstone cliff. Its name, Yongmeori, means “dragon’s head,” resembling a dragon ready to plunge into the sea. Entrance may be restricted during high tides or bad weather. If closed, Mt. Songaksan will be the alternative tour course.

Cheonjeyeon Falls - Named “The Pond of God,” Cheonjeyeon Falls consists of three sections. Around the falls, various plant life thrives, including the rare ‘solimnan’ reeds. To the east, a cave pours cold water from the ceiling to create the first waterfall. The water gathers into a pool and then falls two more times, creating the second and third waterfalls before flowing into the sea.

Daepo Haean Jusangjeolli Cliff - Jusangjeolli Cliff [UNESCO GEO Park] features columnar joints in the Jungmun Tourism Complex, designated as Natural Monument #433 on December 27, 2004. The black hexagon stone pillars look like a large folding screen. The sight of ocean waves crashing against them is mesmerizing.

Songaksan Mountain - If Yongmeori Coast is closed (during high tides or bad weather), Mt. Songaksan will be the alternative tour course.

A must if you don't have a car in Jeju! - I enjoyed very much the 2-day excursion east and west of the island. This option allows to visit a majority of must-see sites at a good pace. Our guide was friendly and informative, and he took us to great places for lunch. The communication with the tour operator was also very precise. Top value for money!
