Highlights
  • Qufu Road - You will meet with our Tour Leader and other guests at the meeting point. After a little introduction, the walk will start!
  • Sihang Warehouse Museum - Your first stop will be one of the most impressive buildings in town: the Sihang Warehouse. It is a former warehouse built in 1935 with a wall full of bullet holes. Our Tour Leader will explain to you what happened here and tell you all the secrets behind this building.
  • Xizanglu Bridge - You will then go on the bridge near the warehouse to enjoy an overview on the building and listen to the story of the former British concession of Shanghai.
  • 浙江路桥 - After walking along the river for a few meters, you will reach one of the iconic bridges on the Suzhou Creek: the Zhejiang Road Bridge. Here, our Tour Leader will tell you the history of this bridge and cool stories about road names and bridge names in Old Shanghai.
  • 慎馀里 - After crossing the bridge, you will arrive in a neighborhood of typical Shanghainese architecture houses, the “shikumen”. Our Tour Leader will explain to you what are the “shikumen” houses and their history.
  • Bulgari Hotel, Shanghai - You will then pass by the Former Chamber of Commerce. This outstanding building is a testimony of Shanghai’s past, and our Tour Leader will share with you many historical anecdotes there.
  • Shanghai General Postal Office - Next door, you will learn everything about the Former General Post Office Building, once known as the “First Hall of the Far East”.
  • Zhapulu Bridge - It will be then time to have a view on the modern Shanghai! We will stop on Zhapu Road Bridge, the best spot to take a picture of the towers of Pudong.
  • Garden Bridge - We will finish our walk by the most iconic bridge on the Suzhou Creek: Waibaidu Bridge. Our Tour Leader will share with you its incredible history, and some tips to take a unique picture!

Suzhou Creek is a significant river in Shanghai. Its recently redeveloped banks have transformed into one of the city’s most delightful walking areas! Join our Tour Leader for a 2.5-hour stroll and uncover the tales from both sides of the river: the Sihang Warehouse (a Sino-Japanese battle site), the former General Chamber of Commerce, historic bridges, the old General Post Office Building… This walk is ideal for grasping the past century of Shanghai while taking in stunning city views!

Great tour along the river - Super interesting visit along the Suzhou Creek, full of anecdotes and historical curiosity about the city of Shanghai, and Clarisse, the guide, is great!
