Upon reaching the Lion and Safari Park, you will embark on a guided safari to see Lions and a variety of wildlife such as wild dogs and cheetahs. The Lion and Safari Park is a 600-hectare conservation area located in the vicinity of Hartebeespoort, Magaliesburg, and the Cradle of Humankind. The park provides visitors with a rare chance to encounter many of South Africa’s renowned species. The Lion and Safari Park presents numerous thrilling activities suitable for family enjoyment. You’ll get the chance to see one of Africa’s Big 5 - the lion, along with other species like the Brown Hyena, Wild dogs, Cheetahs, and various game such as Zebras, Gemsbok, Giraffes, and more. The safari experience lasts approximately 4 hours. Afterwards, we proceed to the Cradle of Humankind.\n\nUpon arrival at the Cradle of Humankind, you will go on a guided exploration of the Sterkfontein Caves followed by a visit to the Maropeng Visitor Centre. The Cradle of Humankind spans roughly 47,000 hectares. This region has been a hotbed of human activity for three million years, including the earliest known use of fire by humans, and it has yielded forty percent of the world’s human ancestor fossils. You can explore this historic area through a personalized tour. Sterkfontein is the largest and most famous of these caves, with more than 500 hominid fossils and over 9,000 stone tools discovered there. It is here that two significant paleontological discoveries were made: Mrs. Ples and Little Foot.\n\nMaropeng, which translates to ‘returning to the place of our origins’ in Setswana, offers visitors an engaging and educational experience that narrates the story of life’s evolution and the beginnings of humankind through dynamic and impressive means. It emphasizes the global significance of the Cradle of Humankind as the ancestral homeland for all people, regardless of race, culture, or religion.\n\nPoints of Interest\n\n- Johannesburg

Safety for a solo traveler - I was traveling solo to Johannesburg before I met my friend in the south, and I wanted to take advantage of the safari parks up north. Being solo and not comfortable driving a car on my own to these places, I found Bono tour option here on TripAdvisor. They had lots of personalized options on their website, but Cradle of Humankind and Lion Safari Park were my two big interests. I was hesitant at first since I only got confirmation from trip advisor and not directly from Bono and when I tried calling when I got into the country the line was turned off. But my driver arrived promptly when he said and was very nice, if not a little quiet. He drove me to each place and handled the logistics and told me exactly where he could meet me and I felt so much more comfortable. Traveling alone is stressful enough, but Bono tours helped me accomplish something I wouldn’t normally have been able to do on my own. I would highly recommend them and talk with them to create your perfect itinerary.

Could be first class - The communication between the tour company and the driver was poor. The driver arrived late and hadn't got the message that we would be waiting for him in our hotel lobby at 8pm. The driver also didn't know what was included in the tour and we had to get him to contact the tour company so they could confirm that visiting the caves and lunch were included. However, the tour itself was excellent, hence four stars. If the communications/logistics were sorted out, it could be first class.

Very Comprehensive and Convenient Excursion - My experience was good. I booked last minute and everything worked out well. Driver showed up on time and the trip went really well. I was a solo traveler and so I had full influence over our schedule and pace which was very nice. There was some initial confusion with the tour operator and the driver about when the tour was supposed to start. Overall, while very valuable, the initial price for the trip was lower than the price I paid at booking. I think this is because I was a solo guest. That said the overall trip did seem overpriced considering other comparable options.
