Highlights
  • Constitution Hill Human Rights Precinct - After pick-ups, we make our way to Constitutional Hill in
Braamfontein for a guided tour of this iconic institution.
Constitution Hill is a living museum that tells the story of South
Africa’s journey to democracy. The site is a former prison and
military fort that bears testament to South Africa’s turbulent
past. Today, it’s home to the country’s Constitutional Court
which endorses the rights of all citizens
  • Mary Fitzgerald Square - We cross over the striking Mandela Bridge on our way into Newtown. Named in honour of Nelson Mandela, the
284-metre long bridge is the largest cable-stayed bridge in South
Africa and links two significant business districts.

The Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown, Johannesburg in South Africa is a public space named after Mary “Pickhandle” Fitzgerald, who is considered to have been the first female trade unionist in the country.

  • Chief Albert Luthuli House - Chief Albert Luthuli House in Johannesburg, more simply known as Luthuli House, is the headquarters of the African National Congress and other subsidiary organizations. The name “Luthuli House” is frequently used as a metonym for the national leadership of the ANC
  • Gandhi Square - Gandhi Square is a plaza located in the Central Business District of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is named after the political activist and pacifist, Mahatma Gandhi.
  • Carlton Centre - We get out in downtown Johannesburg and take a lift up
to the top of the impressive Carlton Centre. The 50-storey,
223-metre tall skyscraper and shopping centre is the second-
tallest building in Africa. From the ‘Top of Africa’, you have a
panoramic view of the city of Johannesburg and the northern
    suburbs.
After an exciting morning or afternoon in Jozi, your guide
drives you back to your accommodation in Johannesburg.

A great first look at Johannesburg - highly recommended! - We were in Johannesburg with another couple and scheduled the half-day tour on our first full day here. Our guide, Cepo, picked us up at our hotel and curated our experience exactly as we wanted! He gave us a couple of different options for the tour, and we chose the option of seeing both the good and the more challenging aspects of Johannesburg. Cepo was so knowledgable about the history of the area and South Africa. Very entertaining and interesting. The highlight was our visit to the Apartheid Museum - highly recommended and so informative! Thanks Cepo for a wonderful and educational tour.

An excellent insight into an often misunderstood city - This tour was excellent. I was taken around the Jo’burg CBD by Mdu Ncube who is a really nice guy and I really enjoyed spending the afternoon with. Really knowledgable and clearly very passionate about the city and SA. This candid, honest approach was something I really appreciated. Joburg and SA is very complex and Mdu explained things very well and very candidly which was also appreciated. I would consider this an essential experience for anyone visiting the city so as to get a better understanding of it and it’s often misunderstood nature.

A good all round tour of JNB. - A laid back historical tour of JNB. A good overview of the city with a very interesting guided tour of Constitution Hill and Fort where Nelson Mandela and Ghandi were incarcerated.

Tailored experience. Very adaptable guide. - Guide very kindly adapted the tour for me as I had already been to Constitution Hill. We went to Museum Africa instead which was very interesting. The rest of the tour was conducted as advertised and we took in other parts of the city. Very pleased about the guides willingness to tailor the tour to my needs.

top notch experience - Khutso was a great guide for our half day tour of Joberg. He was extremely knowledgeable about the city and answered all of our questions. It was a eye opening experience for us and we were glad to have Khutso educate us about Joberg and South Africa's history. would recommend to everyone!

Need to show good with the bad - This tour highlighted many bad parts of the city (CBD), and it ended with us wondering if there was anything good about Joburg. Then the next day we had a much better tour that included the newer, modern parts of the city; that gave us a much better impression.

Tour was just ok - The tour was ok. Didn’t learn much about the city. Enjoyed the tour of constitution hill (given by the on-site tour guide). The other stops were moderately interesting - outdoor mining museum and the Standard Bank mining exhibit. I was glad to stop at the traditional medicine market; that’s something I wouldn’t have known to do in my own. Otherwise, we could have seen and learned more on a hop-on, hop-off tour. We wrapped up an hour early.
