Highlights
  • Constitution Hill Human Rights Precinct - After pick-ups, we make our way to Constitutional Hill in
Braamfontein for a guided tour of this iconic institution.
Constitution Hill is a living museum that tells the story of South
Africa’s journey to democracy. The site is a former prison and
military fort that bears testament to South Africa’s turbulent
past. Today, it’s home to the country’s Constitutional Court which
endorses the rights of all citizens. We cross over the striking Mandela Bridge on our way
    into
Johannesburg CBD. Named in honour of Nelson Mandela, the
284-metre long bridge is the largest cable-stayed bridge in South
Africa and links two significant business districts.
  • Mary Fitzgerald Square - We cross over the striking Mandela Bridge on our way into Newtown. Named in honour of Nelson Mandela, the
284-metre long bridge is the largest cable-stayed bridge in South
Africa and links two significant business districts.

The Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown, Johannesburg in South Africa is a public space named after Mary “Pickhandle” Fitzgerald, who is considered to have been the first female trade unionist in the country.

  • Carlton Centre - We visit the Carlton Centre, also known as the ‘Top of Africa’. There a lift will elevate you 50 stories for an amazing and total view over the city.

The museum illustrates the rise and fall of apartheid through a series of 22 individual exhibitions that take you on an emotional journey from the heartbreaking struggle for freedom and equality to the ultimate climax of the election of Nelson Mandela, the first Black president of South Africa.
It’s mid-day by the time we visit the Apartheid Museum. You can
get something to eat and drink at the Truth Caf (own cost)
  • FNB Stadium - On our way to Soweto we pass by the National Football Stadium City, which hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the World Cup 2010.
  • Baragwanath - We leave the museum at about 14h00 and make our way to
Soweto, driving past famous landmarks such as the FNB Soccer
Stadium, Baragwanath Hospital and the massive Soweto Towers.

The best Joburg tour you can get - The tour was amazing and the guide knew his staff. It was very informative and I’d recommend it for anyone who wants to know about Joburg and it’s history and the history of South Africa as a whole.

Interesting recommended excursion - You get much more than what you booked for. We were a small group and Ali customized the tour a little to accommodate everyone's requests during the tour. He has a great knowledge of South Africa and history, so we talked nonstop and constantly shared information. I wish there were more tour guides like Ali.

Ali gave us a masterclass about South África! - We had an amazing day with Ali! Tons of information about the country, its culture and believes. Loved it! Too bad the day does not have 36 hours, because we would love to spend all of them at the tour.

Well worth it - Really well done tour with a lot of nice details. Cpho our guide was very informative and knew his stuff. Wish the apartheid museum was a bit longer and the final stop at the museum describing the Soweto Massacre was enlightening, albeit depressing in content.

Good city overview with flexible timeline from a good guide - Great overview of the city. We were on a time crunch and the guide did a great job of managing time (skipping a few things with our consent). The museum was great, and we could have spent more time there (if we had had it). Constitution Hill tour was especially good, the special guide there was fantastic! Highly recommend, especially if you dno't have to cut it a little short like we had to.
