Additional Information

The Picnic Concert is a highlight of PMF, taking place at the Sapporo Art Park Outdoor Stage – the very spot where Leonard Bernstein delivered his iconic opening speech and led the London Symphony Orchestra in 1990. Bernstein envisioned PMF as a means to promote world peace through music education, a vision we continue to uphold. Enjoy a summer day surrounded by rustling trees, birdsong, and the classic blue Sapporo sky, while experiencing music of unity performed by world-class artists and young musicians from around the globe – the PMF Orchestra!

The Sapporo Art Park, inaugurated in 1986, was designed to be a new hub for arts and culture in northern Japan. With this goal in mind, it has grown and evolved over the years, becoming a symbol of the significance of arts and culture to the city and Sapporo itself, blending cultural creation with a lush natural environment.
