  • D. T. Suzuki Museum - Daisetz Teitaro Suzuki, a Buddhist philosopher of Zen Buddhism, Suzuki wrote over 100 books and played a major role in the spread of Zen in the Western world. The museum is meant to be a calm oasis within a busy city.
  • Kenrokuen Garden - Kenrokuen is said to be one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan. Your guide will explain the symbols and the typical aspects of a strolling-style landscape garden. Kenrokuen look always beautiful, whenever you visit it!
  • Kanazawa Castle Park - Kanazawa Castle was home to the Maeda family who ruled over this region during the Edo period. We will walk through the park on our way to Gyokusen Inmaru Garden and your guide will explain about Kanazawa’s rich and unique history and cultural heritage.
  • Gyokusen-immaru Garden - We will contemplate this charming traditional-style Landscape garden. It was named after Gyokusenin, the wife of the second feudal Lord
  • Oyama Shrine - on our way to Nagamachi, the Samurai district, we will walk through the Toyama Shrine Garden with it’s own 400 year old green oasis.
  • Nomura Family Samurai House - our last Stop is the Nomura Family House, a former Samurai residency with a stunning private garden. We will enjoy the tranquil atmosphere, travel back in time and your guide will explain the typical features of Samurai houses.

Because it was one of the 5 most important cities during feudal times, Kanazawa had a real “Arts and crafts blossom” during the Edo-period. This rich heritage remained preserved until today. This tour goes off the beaten path to show you some of the most gorgeous traditional gardens in Kanazawa.

we will meet just outside of Ishiura Shrine, at the bus station. Standing there, you will be facing the 21st century museum.
