Highlights
  • The Baptism Site Of Jesus Christ - The Baptism Site of Jesus Christ, also known as Bethany Beyond the Jordan or Al-Maghtas, is an archaeological World Heritage Site in Jordan. It is located on the east bank of the Jordan River, north of the Dead Sea, and is believed to be the place where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.

The site has been venerated as a pilgrimage destination since at least the Byzantine period, and there are many ruins of churches and monasteries from that time. In recent years, archaeological excavations have uncovered even more evidence of early Christian activity at the site, including caves used by hermits and a baptismal pool.

The Baptism Site is open to the public and is a popular destination for both Christian pilgrims and tourists. There is a museum on site that tells the story of the baptism of Jesus, and there are also guided tours available.

Al-Maghtas, meaning “baptism” or “immersion” in Arabic, holds immense religious significance for Christians worldwide.

Dead Sea and Baptism Site Day Trip - The trip went really well. We went to the Dead Sea first where our stay was in Crowne Plaza. It went really well. Then we went to the baptism site and it was amazing. Our driver Yuones was really accommodating and friendly. We were initially not planning on going to the baptism site so we only booked the Dead Sea tour, however, Yuones was flexible enough to include baptism tour for us for an marginally higher cost

Just what you need! - The ride was so comfortable and fun with Abou Anas. He made eveything clear, he was cheerful and explained everything. It felt like home. Despite the heat, the tour was amazing, especially the afternoon at the dead sea resort.

Inner Peace - The Customer Service was outstanding from the reservation, drivers, communication at the hotel pickup/dropoff points, to the coordinated tour guides and lifeguard assistance. It was definitely a spirtual moment standing in the River where Jesus Christ was baptized. Floating in the The Dead Sea and taking the Mud bath and saltong scub was calming and so relaxing.....what a glorious view to behold and experience!

Amazing experience - This was a "last minute" decision and we are glad we did it! It was an unforgettable day! Touring the baptism site and the Dead Sea will be forever in our hearts. Mohammad Bardaghawi was our driver for the day.. He was super kind and patient with our group of 4, telling us interesting facts about the region and let us stop by at some not planned spots. And at the end of the trip, he took us to a store where we were able to buy some souvenirs and Dead Sea beauty products. Thank you Mohammad :)

Unique experience worth your time - We had an amazing tour guide, Wael, who made sure each and every one of my guests were enjoying themselves. He helped take our photos, share fun facts about the areas we drove by and so much more. Please keep in mind both tour sites requires a good amount of walking, so be prepared. Our tour guide at the baptism site was always wonderful and attentive to everyone. It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience and I’m so glad we did it.

Memorable day tour - We have a lovely experience, our driver Muhammad Bardaghawi is friendly and knowledgeable. On the way to Baptism site and Dead Sea, he told us a lot about Jordan. He let us stopped several times to take photos. And on the way back to Amman, we stopped at a shop that sells Dead Sea’s products where we bought some presents for our family. Thank you Muhammad

Very good, we had fun - Everything was very good, the food was delicious, it does not include any entrance fee but the price is worth it, our guide Yuones contacted us in super time, and recommended good places

At the Dead Sea it is always warm enough for swimming - I didn't want to believe it at first, but my super friendly driver Hasan Alkhateeb promised me that you can swim in the Dead Sea in March. And he was right. We set off from Amman at 10°C. First we went to the Jordan River to the baptism site. Exciting even for non-Christians, but don't expect a wide river. After a bit of culture, we went to the Holiday Inn by the sea. It was 28°C and the sun was shining. Unfortunately, the waves were too high to really go swimming, but it was still a great experience, including a mud pack and a lunch buffet.
