ARRIVAL DAY IN ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN

Islamabad International Airport - Most of the international flights arrives at Islamabad International Airport in the mornings. Your Guide will meet and greet you at the airport, then you will be transfer to the hotel. Rest of the days is free to recover from your journey. Later in the day, when everyone has arrived, we will have a group briefing about the K2 and Gandogoro Trek. Depending on the time available to us, there may be an option to do some sightseeing in Islamabad, A purpose-built City in 1961 as the new capital of Pakistan.

SPECTACULAR DRIVE TO SKARDU (2,230m):

SIGHTSEEING & PREPARATION DAY,SKARDU

Upper Kachura Lake - Skardu is the Capital of ancient Baltistan Kingdom so there is so much to see and explore. It is the getaway of many famous treks and Climbing expeditions, including K2 and Gandogoro Trek. In the morning you we will walk up to the remains of Kharpocho Fort (builded early 1700), which overlooks the town and has a great view of the Indus River. If you are into photography then this is a perfect location to take photos of Skaradu Town at sunrise or sunset. (we can arrange this for you). We will then walk to a small village, called Organic village, which grows all its crops organically. The afternoon is free to explore, perhaps you would like to take an optional jeep tour to Satpara Lake or explore the bazaar.

DRIVE TO JOHLA CAMP VIA ASKOLI

Shigar Valley - Following day we will drive along the Mighty Indus, Shigar and Braldu River to the lush green Shigar Valley towards Askoli. Askoli is the last village before entering into the heart of Karakoram. We will spend our first night under the Stars in Askoli, which is high above the thundering Braldu River. Askole is a single street of wooden houses, backed by irrigated fields of corn, potatoes and groves of apricot trees.
After a short stay in Askole, we head to Johla camp for night stay.

Upper Kachura Lake - After breakfast we will follow the Indus River to Reach KKH then drive on KKH to Reach Islamabad.

Skardu to islamabad is 18-20 hours drive.

We have the option to stay over night in Chillas.

Islamabad - Transfer to the airport for your flight back home.

Trango Adventure has a long track record of organizing Trekking in Pakistan. We have had groups successfully completed K2 and Gandogoro Trek on previous occasions. We designed our itinerary based on over 40 Years of experience, which is the best in terms of acclimatization, safety and enjoyment. It is our intention to keep to the day by day itinerary detailed below, although there might be some flexibility due to local conditions or other factors beyond our control. If this is the case the trek leader will do everything possible to work out the changes to the itinerary in order to minimize your inconvenience.

Adventure travel requires an open and flexible attitude. You may experience extreme conditions, unpredictable weather and last-minute changes to the itinerary beyond our control. The ability to work in team is an important aspect of all of our trips.

Gorgeous and unique trekking route with very genuine people and staff - I and my friends went to trek on K2BC and Gondogoro La in July-August 2023. We are from Thailand. One man did trekking many years ago but it's my first time in Pakistan and so do the other two girls. Before going, I felt a little scared due to all bad news of Pakistan. I didn't feel safe as a woman to go trekking in Pakistan. Surprisingly, I and my friends felt totally comfortable with friendship of Pakistani from the first day to the end of the trip. We felt like home, like trekking with brotherhood, like family members. Trango adventure provides us genuine service and frank friendship. The staff are all kind and caring. In addition to the staff in the trip, Pakistani people whom we met along the way were excited to greet us. I was surprised that many Pakistani girls came to ask for taking photo with me and gave me some snack or gift. I totally impressed how safe and sincere here. The nature of Baltoro glacier is unique and magnificent. it's so much different from Nepal and Indian Himalaya where I normally go trekking every year. Definitely, I will come back for trekking in Pakistan and with service of Trango adventure. Highly recommend.
