Highlights
  • Kotoku-in (Great Buddha of Kamakura) - Experience the power of the Great Buddha! The blessings include world peace and national stability. The Great Buddha of Kamakura, a symbol of Kamakura, is housed at Kotoku-in Temple, just a 7-minute walk from Hase Station on the Enoshima Electric Railway. This impressive bronze statue of Amida Nyorai stands 11.3 meters tall, weighs 12 tons, and is designated as a national treasure. Visitors can enter the Great Buddha’s interior, known as a “womb visit,” for a 20 yen admission fee. Inside, natural light filters through a window at the back. The blessings are world peace and national stability, and the statue’s grandeur is truly remarkable. The “good luck wooden tag strap” is also popular, believed to bring good fortune.
  • Hase-dera Temple - Renowned for its peonies, it is affectionately called the “Temple of Flowers.” As the head temple of the Buzan sect of Shingon Buddhism, it is the 8th temple of the 33 Saigoku Sacred Temples. It is thought to have been established in the early 8th century during the Nara period. The main hall is situated halfway up Mt. Hatsuse, surrounded by nature, featuring over 150 varieties and 7,000 peonies, along with cherry blossoms, hydrangeas, autumn leaves, and other seasonal flowers, earning it the nickname “Temple of Flowers.” The main hall, a national treasure, houses a golden “principal image of eleven-faced Kannon” statue that stands over 10 meters tall, one of Japan’s largest wooden Buddha statues.
  • Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine - A shrine linked to Minamoto no Yoritomo, the first Shogun of Kamakura. The expansive grounds of this shrine are home to numerous historical structures, including the main shrine. Climbing the large stone steps to the main shrine offers a panoramic view of Kamakura, extending to Yuigahama. To the left of the main shrine is Maruyama Inari Shrine, the oldest structure at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, built in 1398. Both the main shrine and Maruyama Inari Shrine are designated as important cultural properties of Japan.
  • Kamakura Komachidori - A shopping street that extends from Kamakura Station to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. Known for its historic streetscape and numerous stores selling folk crafts, it is a popular shopping destination.

Additional Information

This is a distinctive half-day tour of Kamakura. Kamakura City is a historic town that still preserves its cultural heritage. However, there are limited plans available. We emphasize its value as an excellent destination.

Additionally, this tour is conducted with not only a professional interpreter but also a private vehicle, making it very accommodating for senior citizens. It is ideal for first-time visitors to Japan. Recently, we have received numerous requests from Yokohama City, as cruise travelers seek offshore excursions.

Therefore, we have decided to set pickup and drop-off locations in both Tokyo and Yokohama. The tours we offer are 100% customizable and flexible. We would be delighted if you reach out to us with any special requests of your own.

  • The total tour duration includes the actual stops on each attraction. The remaining hours in the tour duration are allocated for essential elements such as seamless transportation between attractions (also for the travel time from the pickup and drop off after the tour), scheduled meals and comfort breaks.
