Kandy is the melting pot of history and tradition shaping a unique culture. It was the epicenter of the last Sinhalese kingdom that capitulated to the British rule in 1815 after managing to resist the Portuguese and the Dutch for 300 years. The British faced a grueling 16-year challenge to connect Kandy with Colombo via a roadway. It is recommended to allocate at least a day to experience the hill city enshrouded in mist that remains attractive even during rain. On certain days, the sky over Kandy appears forever clouded, with the persistent mist enveloping the surrounding hills and the eye-catching lake at the city’s heart. This tour of Kandy, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, includes a visit to numerous city highlights with a professional chauffeur-guide.

Day trip to Kandy's sights by car - Pleasant car journeys from sight to sight. The time and place were individually arranged well in advance. My driver Dilshan gave me enough time for the stops at the places so that I could see everything at my leisure. I highly recommend Mahaweli Tours. Many thanks and all the best

Kany city tour with a car - I really enjoyed this tour. It was amazing experiencing the city with a guide. We stoped at all interesting locations. My guide Nuwan was very kind and attentive. As I went alone on this tour, he tried to make me comfortable the whole time, took pictures of me so that I would have memories, kindly answered all my questions. The agency was very professional, they sent me all the information the night before. In the morning, Nuwan was punctual, he picked me up in front of the hotel at the agreed time. We visited all the listed locations and then he dropped me at my hotel. I honestly recommend this tour and this agency!

Excellent Experience with Dushan in Kandy - The car was very good. Clean and tidy and very spacious.
Dushan the driver is one of the best person we have met in Srilanka. He showed us places, helped us buy artwork for our house, negotiated with the shopkeepers on our behalf. He made us both very comfortable. He is also a very safe driver. We would recommend him with eyes closed.

Solo Traveler Here - Had this tour on my first day in Kandy, trains were on strike during my visit so I was super late, we started like 1pm I think (thankyou for adjusting!). I was with Nisantha, a great guide. We went to a war cemetary, a tea factory, a gem store, to the longest river in Sri Lanka (forgot the name) and to the Temple of Tooth (but we werent able to go inside it cause there were like lots of police that day standing outside and will be hard to get in, so I just went the next day). At the end of the tour I wanted some kotu roti, so we went to a place which i forgot the name and eat (best kotu roti on my entire stay in Sri Lanka). Booked my Sigiriya tour with them too. Very safe! Thank you so much!

Great Kandy tour - It was a pleasant trip.
Nicely arranged by the tour advisor Prasad.
We have covered the temples during our stay and the driver by the name of Jehan guided us. He gave us the brief history about them.
They were punctual and made our journey extraordinary.

Excellent guide with tailor made program - The tour operator, Mr. Prasad was kind enough to tailor the tour to our liking and preferences.
Everything was well arranged, nothing was rushed, and we had plenty of time to complete most items on the itinerary.
Nishantha, our guide / driver had extensive knowledge of the city, and kept us entertained with the history and culture of the city.
Highly recommended. Not to be missed by any person visiting Kandy.

Great way to see Kandy’s main attractions - As a traveller on my own, I always like to do a guided tour on my first day in a new city/town to help me get a feel for the place. With only two nights in Kandy, this was even more important. The great customer service started right after booking when Dilani messaged me to confirm my booking and offer assistance if I needed anything else for my trip. The day before the tour, my guide, Harry, messaged to confirm pick up time and location. I was also able to make suggestions for what I wanted to see. And when I needed an HSBC atm, he knew where to take me! Highlights include Temple of the Tooth, Kandy Lake, the viewpoint, royal botanical gardens - with monkeys! - and then stops st boutiques for shopping if you want.

Highly Recommended - Everything was really easy. I received a phone call the night before to check on location and start time. There was a lot of flexibility and the tour was totally tailored to me. Be honest and you’ll have a great day!

Nice visit to all Kandy has to offer - The tour is very nice and covers all the “important” spots in Kandy. However my guide didn’t speak much English so he ended up being more of a chauffeur than a tour guide. Expected to learn more about the city’s history and culture.
Recommended if you want to see the Kandy sights in one day! If your preferred language is English remember to request for an English speaking guide.
